Impromptu DimDim Session about Emfield + Imagecache
I'm going to do a quick, impromptu Dojo session on DimDim about using Embedded Media Field in conjunction with Imagecache. Because I feel like it. Sorry about the short notice; I'll post deets here for interested people who want to know but missed the show... For Drupal 6. Join #drupal-dojo in IRC.
DrupalMedia.org Launched for the Sprint!
As a supplement to the Media group, I launched Drupal Media today to help with the ongoing Media sprint efforts. On its front page, you'll see a map to the next sprint (which is at Mansueto - 7 World Trade Ctr, New York, NY this Friday-Saturday, October 23-24, from 9-5). Tabs are also available for discussions (add your own), videos, and a feed to the Media module issue queue. Please give me any feedback or desired functionality that would be useful for the site. (Including long-term plans for the useful domain, contributed by the good folks at Development Seed.)
Don't forget that you have to pre-register if you plan to come to the sprint, with your full name. Hope to see you there, or at #drupal-media in IRC!
Revised Media Roadmap for Sprint Oct 23-24
Media API
- Create a workflow diagram.
- Ensure Registration of Media modules works, and is complete. See media_get_registered_modules().
- Convert 'Resources' to 'Streams' to work w/ Stream Wrappers in core.
- Document all hooks for the module.
- Determine continued need/placement for 'Formatters'.
- Continue building Media form (ala Maarten's designs).
- Add thumbnail support for browsing files.
- Convert dbqueries to dbtng.
- Drupal behaviors & AHAH callbacks.
- Create any required images.
- Add default theme options for stream display in browser.
File/Stream Handling
- Handle uploaded files.
- Integrate with FileField.
- Ensure files shared in multiple places aren't deleted unless they are singular.
- Handle shared files/streams.
- Handle streams other than default public/private.
- Token integration.
Remote Streams
- Create YouTube stream wrapper.
- Create Flickr stream wrapper.
- Create Brightcove stream wrapper.
Media Metadata
- Determine continued need/placement for 'Metadata' (and how it fits w/ core RDF).
- Determine if key/value pairs is best way to go forward.
- Create table for storage.
- Create hooks for modules to store unique columns.
- Create metadata collection form.
SimpleTests
- Create simpletests.
Views Integration
- Allow a Views formatter for file browser -- perhaps an administrative dropdown of available views ala quicktabs or panels?
WYSIWYG Support
- Research the WYSIWYG module to determine how to integrate.
- Create a plan for WYSIWYG integration.
Monster Media Sprint!
Fellow Media Moguls,
We're shaking off the dust from the Media module, which was sadly neglected during the heady Summer of Code, where we got Stream Wrappers into core! I'm excited to meet now with my fellow Drupalistas, and get the module presentable for Drupal 7 (and Drupal 6, if anyone is interested in helping on that front).
ArtistData
Interesting site passed my way. ArtistData is a new service that updates your twitter, facebook, myspace feeds all at once, and claims "Artists should only enter data once."
Bandcamp and Muxtape
Hey guys,
I just wanted to give a headsup to some emerging sites that benefit musicians. I recently checked out both Bandcamp.com and Muxtape.com and they are both doing some very cool things.

Named relations between Nodes, how can it be done?
Hi all,
I hope someone can help out, or at least point me in the right direction. I am working on a project that needs to have a named relation between nodes. I am posting in this group because I think this is a common feature of Band/Artist music sites. I am pretty sure I have gone through all current modules of Drupal a couple of times but none seems to do this out-of-the-box. The closest I have come is the CCK Multireference field.
What I want to achieve something like this:
Audio Assistance
I thought that I would join the group as it looks like a good source of infomation regarding audio and Drupal.
I am currnetly setting up a music based website using Drupal and the Audio module, however, I am having a few issues that I would like some help with and I'm confident that the help I need is buried deep inside this group's combined intelligence.
Now, before I fill this page with my problems and needs, I want to know if this is the correct place to do so. Are we allowd to request help here or is there a better route?
Snowy.
Media Sprint in Philly Today & Tomorrow!!!
Wow, somehow announcing this at gdo slipped off my radar. In any case, if you haven't already heard the good news at Zivtech you might want to know about the Media Sprint planned today and tomorrow in Philly!
Public Access and related media initiatives on a regional level
I wanted to reset this discussion on how Public Access and related media initiatives would benefit from collaboration in a wide range of areas from development, documentation, training, funding/fundraising, marketing, promotion, business, hosting, sales, and services.
Media Shiai/Sprint

How Drupal can help a site admin for a label/artist site?
Introduction
This is is intended as a place-holder for ideas on how Drupal can help a site admin in charge of a label/artist site.
In other words, as well as offering the obvious content editing capabilities I'd like to raise the question "what can Drupal do for You?" in the context of a site admin in charge of a label/artist site.
Using Aggregators/going direct using Drupal?
How Drupal can help a site admin for a label/artist site?
Have converted this to a normal discussion...it's difficult to follow additions when it's a wikipage.
Spotify opens up to developers
hi guys,
This is just a quick "heads up" post. If you're not familiar with spotify, I recommend you try it out, if it's available where you are. It's probably the cleverest and slickest music app I've seen online since liquid audio (which became itunes music store).
Anyway..the heads up is that they've opened up to developers with a libspotify (C API package).
The following is from the spotify site:

Media Sprint at Open Media Camp in Denver!
Make sure to attend the Media Sprint Update Panel and join the Media Sprint 2009 at Open Media Camp in Denver, on April 18-19!
The presenters of this panel, including Aaron Winborn (aaron), Arthur Foelsche (arthurf), and Alex Urevick-Ackelsberg (Alex UA), will discuss the ongoing efforts of the Media Sprint by the Drupal Media working group to bring to fruition the Media module and related work.
This panel will begin with a demonstration and discussion of the current state of the ongoing development of the Media module, and a thorough examination of the concept for its extensible API. Finally, we'll discuss the near and far-term plans, including the Media Sprint planned for the next day of the Open Media Camp.
Ubercart and Assigned Seating...
I'm the webmaster for the Miami Gay Men's Chorus and we've been using phpmyticket, a dead php project. A few people have spun this off into fusionticket. Since drupal has many more options when it comes to nodes and views and I'd really like to create something similar to the assigned seats function in drupal. I'm willing to put in the work, however I'm more of a themer and need some hand holding getting into this project. This would be a boon to many non-profit performing arts groups that have the need for assigned seating. Any suggestions and or help would be greatly appreciated!
