At our August meeting Simon Hobbs from Em Space will present a whistle-stop tour of the Drupal underbelly. We start with a simple use-case of creating and displaying some custom content. Then we look at the basics of how Drupal achieves the result underneath the hood. What components come with Drupal core, and when we need contributed modules or custom code.

Sydney June Meetup - Socialized!

Keeping with our schedule of the 3rd thursday of each month, we'll be having our regular meetup on this Thursday, June 18th. This meetup will have a change of venue and will be an experiment for more social events for the community. (Next month is July 16th)

The last monthly meetup went really well as usual. We experimented with a barcamp style session which got good feedback. The turn out was a bit smaller than usual (probably do to a late announcement on my part) but we had another really great support session. Thanks again to the people who stepped up barcamp style.

This month we'll be at the Royal Exhibition Hotel and we'll be aiming for a social pub experience. I'm still working to see if we can get a projector setup. If so, look for us upstairs otherwise we'll position ourselves in the back area where we can pool some tables together. Look for laptops, drupal schwag, and lots of talking! We'll also be running the support sessions again, since that seems to be a popular segment so bring your laptop!

The NBVA is a beach volleyball association located on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

I am looking a little down the track and I was just wanting to gauge the interest in allowing customers to save credit card numbers for later use.

eWay (and I am guessing others) supports a method which allows users to save their credit cards for later use. Would people be interested in having a feature like this for their customers.

Also (forgetting patent isues) this would be the first step for allowing users to have single click purchasing.

I've had a few casual discussions lately, including at the DrupalCamp yesterday, about a Drupal Australia site. I just wanted to be very clear about my position on this, and get some discussion.

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure...
For a long time I haven't seen any need for an Australian Drupal site. I might be warming to the idea for a few specific features.

We are starting a new company requiring a site similar in many ways (but on a much smaller scale) to "Facebook". It will require various modular functions, including database searches, video streaming, calendars, etc, and will require mobile device access, a Facebook appplication and various other facilities.

So far we have explored more 'traditional' web design firms for this task, but have recently been notified that Drupal would be an appropriate 'road' to explore.

We are looking to hire a single contractor, or perhaps a 'drupal development firm' to fulfil this project.

We are currently completing a website for a client and they have requested we use drupal - which we are not experienced with. We have purchased a Drupal template which we wish to customize, however we need someone to help get us started and then help us along the way...

With the release of the first RC for e-Commerce 4.0 I am looking to run training here in Melbourne Aust.

I'd like to announce that Em Space are now running Drupal training programs in Australia. Our venue's awesome , just a few metres from our office. We can cater for people who can't bring a computer.

Time flies when you're having fun and it seems that time has indeed flown by since our last Brisbane Meet. This time we are moving and shaking on a Tuesday night -- Tuesday 24th March 2009.
