Integrate Dayton Drupal Users Group

I tried creating a g.d.o group for Dayton, but was denied because we are too close to Cinci and Columbus. Rather than whine about it, I thought I'd see if we could officially integrated the Dayton Drupal Users Group here so our members can have a group to use for conversation, etc. I noticed the group description already includes Dayton anyway, so why not make it more official.

What do you think?

Upcoming Meetings?

Hi guys,

Long time lurker soon to be involved member here. I noticed there haven't been any meetups posted lately - are you guys still getting together here in Cinci?

Style website interest?

Hey all,

I've started a Drupal website that allows the sharing of style pics and ideas/advice and would love to know if others in the area are interested in being involved or simply weighing in. We are currently in beta (www.getstylin.com) and have several planned upgrades to the theming and features, which I'm happy to share.

Additionally we've posted a job for a developer if interested: http://groups.drupal.org/node/206213

Hope to hear from you!

Alex

Upgrading Drupal After HTML5 Conversion

I am working on a project to build a site in Drupal 7. I really want to take advantage of the HTML5 functionality and I found the HTML5 Tools module. It says it converts the Drupal core files into HTML5. How does that affect the process of upgrading, especially to Drupal 8? I know 8 hasn't been released yet, but I'm leery of altering the core for fear that the upgrade process won't work as it should. Does anyone have experience with this or have an idea of the possible effects? Thanks for your help!

Module Suggestion for my Senior Design Student Project

Hello everyone. I'm a final year IT major and for my senior design I have decided to redesign a non-profit organization Web site using Drupal. My background is in .Net Framework but I have been playing with Drupal and I have a developed lot of interests. The non-profit organization is a chapter based organization, which has 1-3 chapters in every state and some parts of Africa, Europe and Canada. My academic adviser has approved the project BUT said that I will have to develop two custom modules. I have never develop any module before. Any suggestions/ideas will highly be appreciated.

Regional Drupal Camps

So, we have a lot of Drupal Camps going on in the Midwest this year. This is a GREAT thing! It means the local communities are getting strong enough to start hosting these camps. I know this year our camp could have been a lot larger, our venue this year was big enough to handle something MUCH larger, but as I'm sure a number of others out there are experiencing some balance of sponsors, speakers, and attendees that may or may not already be committed to another Drupal Camp.

OSU as 1st choice but we have been looking into other options

Team,
Some of us have been making the early beginnings of getting a DrupalCamp for Columbus this year.
Efforts to get into OSU have been unsuccessful to date.
I will be speaking at my 20th Drupal Camp in a few weeks and of those 20 only 5 have NOT been at a university. 2 of those 5 were at private instructional facilities.
I'm reaching out to any of the OSU Alumni, Staff, or Students who can facilitate getting the camp onto the OSU campus. If you can help, either reply to me directly OR here to the whole group.
