Drupal Camp Vancouver
DrupalCampPDX Dates
We've picked some tentative dates for the next Portland DrupalCamp: August 22-23, 2009.
So scour your calendars and make sure there aren't any other big tech events that weekend. Obviously any date is going to cause problems for some subset of people but we want to make sure we're not up against another regional DrupalCamp. It'll be close to DrupalCon Paris but hopefully we'll still be able to draw in some other people on the West Coast.

2 Part time Drupal Developers with PHP required | S.i.Systems Ltd, Vancouver, BC
We have a client who is ideally looking to bolster their PHP team by adding 2 developers who have Drupal experience. The role involves developing Drupal code as well as doing some configuration.
The hours available for this contract opportunity are varied. Anywhere from 10 to 30 hours per week.
All hours can be worked from your home office, on a flexible schedule, however there will be a requirement for some business hours availability, for team meetings and client contact.
New Northern BC Drupal Group
For all those Drupal'ers who live in the northern backwaters of British Columbia and want to remind yourselves that you are not alone, this is the group for you. http://groups.drupal.org/northern-british-columbia-user-group
Currently, existence within the group is very, very lonely. Northerners, come and introduce yourselves.
Two Weeks to Go! Drupal Camp Alberta 2008 Updates
In just two weeks, Drupal designers and developers from Alberta, BC, PEI & Montana will gather at the University of Lethbridge for Drupal Camp Alberta 2008.
In the past week - we secured our speakers & sponsors, opened registration and are expecting approx 100 attendees - many of who are holding out on registration right now :-)
Drupal Camp Alberta 2008
DCA08 is unlike any corporate conference you've ever attended - and for good reason. Focusing on "Drupal" - an open source content management system and application framework, DCA08 is a low-cost, highly collaborative "unconference" held in at the University of Lethbridge, in Southern Alberta, Canada.
Gone are the days of sponsored vendor presentations and for-profit registration fees. Our peer taught, volunteer-run sessions will by heavy with "doers", and light on the "talkers".
Join us July 3 & 4 from 8am - 5pm both days (Networking event on July 3rd)
Drupal Camp Alberta 2008
After a short discussion with the powers that be at the University of Lethbridge, I have full approval to host Drupal Camp Alberta 2008 in June or early July.
Our facilities are top notch http://www.uleth.ca/conference/ (open WIFI, theatres, breakout rooms, entertainment and fitness facilities, AND campus housing summer rentals) - so we are going to take the bull by the horns and spread the word.
I know the organizers for DCV08 put it together at the speed of light, we are going to follow suit.
Drupal Profiles follow up and discussion of setting up client sites on a VPS/Reseller hosting
I really enjoyed the install profile talk that Boris gave on Saturday about install profiles and how they can make everyone's life a lot easier. But I think there were still a couple of things I felt I missed and was wondering if anyone could help clear them up.
1. Boris placed the themes and modules folders inside the Profile folder and said something to the effect that if you install the site using the profile Drupal remembers that your modules and themes are in that folder, is that correct, or did I miss something?
Staging & Deployment Slides up from DrupalCamp Vancouver
I've uploaded the slides for my presentation on staging & deployment from this weekend.
http://heyrocker.com/drupal/content/drupalcamp-vancouver-staging-deploym...
Thanks so much to all the dcv08 organizers, and to everyone who came to my talk. It was really great and I look forward to further discussions!
See some of you at DrupalCamp Seattle!
DrupalCamp Seattle 2008 Details and Event Signup
We've set up an event node here on g.d.o for people to signup for the seattle drupalcamp. All information will eventually be posted on this node.
Here is the short of it (as you may know):
June 27, 28 10am to 5pm
Youngstown Arts Center (site of last year's camp), its about 5 miles south of downtown.
Find out more and signup, space is limited right now to 80 people.
Drupal Camp Codesprint - Fearless City

FearlessCity - an arts and events portal for the Downtown Eastside - will be the subject of Drupal Camp's codesprint. The event will be held from 6-9pm on Friday at Delicados - 510 West Hastings St.
The site is currently in alpha state and I'm hoping that we can move it to a solid beta state as part of Drupal Camp.
The codesprint will have two foci - the first (for coders) will be to add as many ways for mobile-generated content to reach the site as possible. The other (for themers) will be the creation of a mobile-friendly black-on-white theme for the site.
Two random draws will be held for a membership in the Vancouver Open Network Initiatives Cooperative, including a FreeTheNet.ca wifi mesh node, from amongst all of those participating.
Food will be provided (but you'll be responsible for your own drinks.)
Drupal Camp Vancouver has a new home
The rag-tag band of volunteers is steadily working to wrangle Drupal Camp Vancouver into a knowledge-sharing fest of unparalleled fun. First there was an idea, then we chose a date, set up a Drupal Group, now there is a location and finally a website.
Anyhow, this is a notice that DrupalCampVancouver.org is alive and slowly percolating up with the relevant details and useful information including Sponsor info (and checklist), Volunteer info (and organizer props), and the important Call for Speakers.
'Tis a busy time for all (including many involved with Open Web this week) so volunteers are important to spread the work around. Big thanks to those who've signed on so far. Have a bit of time? Be sure to Contact the organizers to help out (no big deal eh) and see ya at DrupalCampVancouver.org.

Quick Status Update - March 29
Hey everyone!
A quick status update to let y'all know where we're at.
If you've put your name on the wiki as a volunteer and no one has contact you yet, don't worry, we will!
- We'll soon have a conference website
- Scott Morgan has volunteered to be our t-shirt wrangler
- Mike Cantelon is helping with the website (between Open Web and work commitments)
- We have a money management angel (thanks Raincity!)
- Sponsorship is firming up nicely
- Still trying to get locations 100% nailed down
Interesting discussion with Mack Hardy about barn raising:
