Drupal Fit
Drupal Fit is a movement to bring Drupal community members together and provide support for getting and staying fit. This movement started long ago at DrupalCons when community members met for early morning runs and group yoga.
Some of the goals of this group are:
- to provide a place for coordinating fitness-related events at Drupal conferences and in local user groups
- to encourage sharing of productivity boosting techniques and "life hacking" tips with members of the community
- to send a gentle but persistent message that our bodies are the only ones we have for the rest of our lives
- and to have fun!

While membership to this group is both free and open to anyone in the Drupal community, any negativity or unsolicited advertising (i.e. spam) will not be tolerated.
Do you use a newsreader? We have an RSS feed of all items posted to this group
Who better than Dries Buytaert, the founder and project lead of the Drupal project, to be the exemplar of the Drupal Fit movement?
Many thanks to Dries for lending his fitness to the Drupal Fit group. Post a caption in the comments and win fame and notoriety!
Another Cool Fitness Related Drupal Site

Wanted to share a really cool Drupal site that just launched last week: http://GaiamTV.com.
If you want a 30-day free trial, follow this link: http://gaiam.extole.com/a/clk/2g44v
This site contains a ton of great spirituality movies, TV series, workout videos (in the 100's) and yoga videos (again in the 100's) that you can stream as many times as you like.
Enjoy!

In-office workouts
The Washington Post has an animated infographic with exercises that can be done in the office. Each is rated by how difficult, sweaty, and humiliating/embarrassing it is. A lot of them seem to be dance moves from the 80s/90s.

Fight Gone Bad 6 and helping to Save my Beard!
I'm doing this fund raiser this year. It's called [Fight Gone Bad | http://www.sportsgrants.org/fgb6/blog/].
It's part of this crossfit stuff i've been doing for the last year.
Anyway, it benefits the Special Operations Warrior foundation, CrossFit Kids, and Camp Patriot. Also, I entered into a side bet
with one of my crossfit coaches and if she raises more cash than me, i have to shave. If I win, she gets pink hair.
[http://youtu.be/6gLu5_1Cg9c|Here's our promo video] Our little side bet ends tomorrow at 2pm. But you can donate up to the 24th.

Recommendations for a Natural Light / LED Desk Lamp?
I'm in a great co-working space in Madison. The only bummer is the lack of direct sunlight. I'm interested in getting a natural light lamp.It seems like most of the models I've looked at have a 27W 4-pin bulb. Any suggestions out there?

Toss the Drupal dev for Special Olympics
Thousands of children and adults in the United States live with intellectual disabilities. These individuals often find themselves marginalized in their communities, schools, and sometimes even their own families. Special Olympics works to improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities through year-round sports training and athletic competition and to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of all people.
Drupal Professional by Week/Ruggers by weekend?
As I have an upcoming rugby match on sat I was wondering if there we any other, Rugby playing Drupal professionals out there?
What sports do people in this group participate in in general?
Golf Tourney Anyone???
With the warmer weather and daylight savings in effect, I've caught the golf bug again. Wondering if anyone else has too (tends to be contagious). If so, what do you think of having a Drupal Golf Outing at a local course. Doesn't have to be anything big, one foursome would suffice.

DrupalCon fitness - report back!
So... I am curious to hear how much "fit" everyone managed to pack in during the conference! I for one did zero exercise during the actual conference. But... I'm still in Chicago and today went for a nice swim (my first in a long time) at the hotel and then a longish (for me) walk to get groceries. Quite pleased with myself, and I felt great and energized the rest of the day!

While in Chicago, some of us will be checking out the crossfit gyms in the area. Any of you current crossfitters who'd like to join?
New Drupal fitness site and giveaway
Hi everyone!
A few fellow Drupal fans and I launched a website this month called www.mygymandtrainer.com. The site looks to provide information on all of the personal trainers, gyms and group fitness classes out there and is nationwide. We grew frustrated with the lack of information on which trainers and classes or gyms are terrific or not so much. Signing up for a class and then realizing that you've just wasted the last hour of your time and money is never a good feeling. So, in a nutshell we wanted to change that.

Anyone hesitating at getting up off the couch....
So... why?
Everyone has their reason to stay fit but so for many of us, that reason is not easy to be found. Computer programming is not fit-making that's for sure. I myself was a couch potato, until about 2006. I was 31. At that time I was learning dance movement therapy and my group leader (Marton Nagy) was 74 and was still very active (you can't teach DMT from an armchair). At that time I was thinking going to university and maybe doing DMT as a profession and... well, you can't do DMT for decades if you are unfit, can you?
The Benefits of Exercising Before Breakfast
Thought I'd share this article: Phys Ed: The Benefits of Exercising Before Breakfast
Some excerpts:
The men who ate breakfast before exercising gained weight, too, although only about half as much as the control group. Like those sedentary big eaters, however, they had become more insulin-resistant and were storing a greater amount of fat in their muscles.
How are we doing? Post your ideas and requests for Drupal Fit here
It's been about 3 months since Drupal Fit started up and I'm wondering what people think about it. Oliver (oseldman) and I (christefano) would love your feedback. What has Drupal Fit done for you and has it met, exceeded or failed your expectations?
Drupal Fit Community Spotlight: Dries Buytaert
Dries Buytaert is the creator and project lead of the Drupal project. In recent years, he became the president of the Drupal Association in 2006 and co-founded Acquia in 2007. While Acquia remains his main focus, Dries donned the mask of the relentless crusader in the fight against spam and co-founded Mollom in 2008.
As if he weren't busy enough, Dries is a father of two, Stan and Axl, and recently moved with his wife, Karlijn, and children from his home city of Antwerp, Belgium, to Boston, Massachusetts.
After some chitchat about Boston, the thriving Los Angeles Drupal community and his recent Drupal in a tablet world post, we jumped into the interview.
Christefano: Dries, I'm really grateful that you put time aside for this.
Dries Buytaert: Yeah, no problem. I definitely want to help with Drupal Fit.
