City selection for DrupalCon 2010 still wide open

Please note that the list of cities from http://groups.drupal.org/node/26241 (as per the BoF in Paris) is just a list of possible suggestions. Please see the draft document that has been proposed for city selection guidelines: http://groups.drupal.org/node/27246

The goal is to publish that document at the end of this week (after incorporating feedback from the community) and to start receiving city proposals immediately after that. Since we need to have recommendations to give to the Drupal Association by October 15 the proposal phase will have to be short. The proposal phase will probably end October 1. After that we will have the proposals reviewed by the events agency to gather their feedback in time for the October 15 deadline.

If you want DrupalCon in your city/country in 2010 please review the document and add your feedback!

UK Midlands Drupal Mini-Conference - 29th September 2009 - Coventry

UK Midlands Drupal Mini-Conference - 29th September 2009 - Coventry
I'm working with Illuminate ICT to organise a one-day UK Midlands Drupal Event / Mini-Conference

It will be held on 29th of September, somewhere in the Coventry area (venue hasn't been agreed yet but we're aiming at being close to a junction of the M6).

We'll be sharing ideas on best practice, building better websites, Drupal social websites, staying on the right side of the DDA, monetising Drupal websites and more.

Developing common code: use cases and ideas?

Hello everyone!

At the recent DrupalCamp UK session on running events with Drupal, the current state of things was awarded a resounding 3/10.

Several of us agreed that we should aim to work together to produce reusable, generic modules, rather than keep building one-shot sites.
Obviously this requires more effort and organization, but the benefits are considerable :)

So to get the ball rolling: what do we need from event sites? What use cases do we have? What do we need to consider?

Wastelands: Let's start thinking about use cases and spec

So I'm at DrupalCamp UK and the topic of this site has come up again.
Lots of developers mention cool modules they've written in-house but aren't releasing because they're too specific to their projects or too raw for a release.

A space where these could be released without too much expectation would mean the next person who needs this feature doesn't reinvent the wheel, but instead can give some time to pushing the code a little more towards being generic and ready for release.

So let's think about use cases for the Wastelands and the spec we'd need.

Sessions

Is there going to be pre-planned sessions, in different tracks, or will it be a kind of free for all?

The Simple Idea.. we want your recipes..

One idea we've had is to offer people "Drupal ready to go"..
ie all the modules, settings configured.. so all you have to do is login and get creating content..

We're also going to use it for all the workshops, etc..

We've added a proposal here - http://groups.drupal.org/node/19479

Take a look, give us your feedback, and if you like the idea, please signin/register then vote..
It really is a case.. of if you don't speak now.. it won't happen.

We'd also love to find people what can supply "recipes".. or that have wishlists.
