Drupal programmers, user -experience experts, social-network innovators and web 2.0 entrepreneurs, are invited to attend: NewsTools2008.org at Yahoo! Sunnyvale, April 30-May 3. "Technology and the New Ecology of News: How will technology innovation support journalism and participatory democracy?"

UPDATE: We have much more information about our BU event on May 2nd. It will be free, and breakfast items and lunch will be provided. It will be in GCC Room 124 on Bradley University's campus, which is a room with teleconference facilities, so we may be able to teleconference in a presenter or two, or stream the event live - we're still investigating these possibilties. Please sign up for a user account on our site if you want to attend so we can get food for you.

The site has been updated with more information, such as directions, and our agenda. More will follow as we have time.

We will discuss contributed modules this month, in a round table format. Think about contributed modules:
- which modules do you use all the time?
- which modules do you want to know more about?
- which modules have you tried, then discarded? Why?

The round table discussion will give everybody a chance to contribute and the diversity of our group will give us all a chance to learn.

Advantage Labs is presenting a class in Minneapolis: Drupal Basic Training: Build a Drupal Website. This class is ideal for seasoned web professionals just getting into Drupal and community managers with existing or upcoming sites.

Over the course of 4 weekly sessions and 4 additional labtimes, you will know how to create a content-managed Drupal site complete with functionality that will draw users in, keep them informed, and keep them coming back!

Register to attend one day of NewsTools2008 -- "Drupal Day at NewsTools2008," on Friday, May 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The registration fee of $50 includes lunch and end-of-day reception. If the fee is a hardship, email densmore@mediagiraffe.org to request a fee waiver. Otherwise, REGISTER HERE, choosing the "Drupal Day FRIDAY ONLY" button.

It's the first Friday of the month, so if you're not too tired after yesterday's protesting/morris dancing/May pole rounding, come along to the Drupal Drop-In and share your skills, ideas and problems.

It does not matter if you set it up as a personal site or fictive business site. Judged will be general design, userfriendlyness and complexity of content.
