Federal Digital Government Strategy
Welcome to the Federal Digital Government Strategy GDO Group. The goal of this group is three fold:
- Convene a conversation about using Drupal to implement the Digital Government Strategy goals and objectives
- Collect and share best-practices describing how agencies are using Drupal successfully
- Organize the creation of common Drupal modules that implement specific requirements of the digital strategy
There are many ways you can contribute:
- Start a discussion on an interesting topic you're thinking about
- Contribute to the requirements discussion about the /developer module.
- Share any best-practices or modules you're using to implement the digital strategy.

Read moreHot thread about merits of Drupal in Government over at Knight News Challenge...
Hi folks,
A couple of weeks ago we submitted a proposal to the Knight News Challenge (http://kng.ht/16Fw8w6) for free hosted open data portals for local government based on our DKAN Drupal Distro (http://drupal.org/project/DKAN). The submission made the front page of the contest based on "applause," and got some nice press coverage (http://bit.ly/10Gp7Zj), which has drawn enough interest to ignite a bit of a flame war about the merits, or lack thereof, of Drupal for government. Please do weigh in as you see fit! :)
Best,
Andrew

Hi All, had another productive session on Tuesday working on the /Developer module. After having a few weeks to think about the module and functionality, we started adding tickets for enhancements to the github repo:
https://github.com/project-open-data/slash_developer
We decided to target a v0.1 milestone release on November 16 to coincide with the 6 month mark of the Digital Strategy.
We're going to be making incremental changes over the next few weeks, looking to get back together in early- to mid-November.
Drupal Ladder issue sprint Nov. 14 7pm at Gordon Biersch in Rockville
If you are planning to attend, please RSVP on Meetup.com! Here's the event: http://www.meetup.com/drupal-dc/events/87411042/ This is so I can give Gordon Biersch a more accurate count. Sorry that this means you need an account on another site, but groups.drupal.org just doesn't handle event planning very well.

Sprint #2 for the /Developer module. Here are the follow up tasks we decided on in the last session:
- Test module, feedback
- Think about machine readable format for this
- Maybe use ServicesViews to provide this, or code it in the module
- Finish boilerplate text to show up on /developer/quickstart
- Tim Bornholtz will set up new slash_developer module on his D7 site.
- Screencast/record functionality
Location will be the same space at Department of Commerce. We'll meet out front of the main entrance on 14th at 2:50.
Looking forward to making more progress.
