SMEP Membership Polls
Creating a New Member Poll
- Create a 'Binary Poll'
- Set Binary Question to a suitable title for the poll, such as 2010 SMEP Membership
- Open the 'Menu Settings' and select the appropriate Parent Item (likely 'Nominations and Ballots'

In the description field, enter appropriate text to describe the membership poll, such as listing the nomination period dates and voting dates.

Do not enter any Poll Choices - poll choices will be built
from user nominations later
- Check the Allow nominations for this poll checkbox

Select the appropriate Nomination Content Type for the poll - this will be the 'Nomination for SMEP Membership'

Choose appropriate dates for Nomination start date,
Nomination end date, (voting) Starting Date and
(voting) Ending date. Start times are based on 00:00
while end-times are based on 23:59 of the server's time zone.
- Do not select 'allow users to cast a write-in vote'
- Save the Poll

Running the nominations
During the nomination period, users will be able to Nominate
potential candidates.

Preparing the poll
Preferably after the end of the nomination period but before the start
of the voting period, an administrator will want to review and publish
poll nominations. At the bottom of the Poll's View Nominations
tab there is a link titled Publish Polls (probably needs to
be renamed) that will convert all nominations that are still flagged
as published into poll options. It is important to note that it is unwise to add nominees to a poll once the voting period has begun.
