Coding for a Cause: We need your help!

On Sunday, April 21st, participants at Florida DrupalCamp will volunteer to build websites for 3 nonprofit organizations as a way to build skills in the Florida Drupal community, and provide a benefit for the selected organizations.

We are looking for Project Managers to coordinate with the selected agencies prior to, and the day of the event. You'll be responsible for gathering the required information from one of the selected non-profit organizations and getting that information back to the volunteers who will be building the website for them.

Event Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 12:00 Noon

We will be discussing Themes again since it is a large topic. Theming is a large category and it has plenty of Drupal Themes donated to Drupal that it is hard to find the one you may need so we will try to help you on how to decide or make the process a little easier for you.

Dan Denysenko, Kan Mano and Edd Suddrech will be attending this Saturday.

Please came and join us for the fun. This is free to all.

Gainesville Drupal Users Group: Thurs, Feb 21st at 7pm

Start:
2013-02-21 19:00 - 21:00 America/New_York

**Please note that this meeting is delayed one week due to Valentines Day**

1. Sass, Compass & Integration via the Zen & Omega base themes

Sass is an extension of CSS3, adding nested rulesvariables, mixinsselector inheritance, and more. It’s translated to well-formatted, standard CSS using the command line tool or a web-framework plugin such as Compass. Mike Herchel will give a presentation on both SASS and Compass, and how they integrate into theming Drupal through either Zen, Omega, or a do-it-yourself theme!

2. Views Plugins Universe

The ubiquitous Views module has [seemingly] hundreds off plugin modules that extend it to the limits. Brandon Ratzloff will explain and demo various plugin modules and how to bend Views/Drupal to your every whim.

3. Sheetnode Presentation

Sheetnode integrates the JavaScript spreadsheet engine SocialCalc as a new node type in Drupal. Martin Boecken will walk our group thought the ins and outs of this module.

In addition, we'll have

  • A [free] 20 minute Drupal beginner session/training for any newbies that attend
  • A rundown of the top X Drupal modules - this is always one of our favorites
  • Roundtable discussion - What have you done or learned in the last month that's worth showing off?

CANCELLED: Orlando Meetup: Valencia East

Start:
2013-02-25 19:00 America/New_York
Organizers:

Orlando does not currently have a regular monthly meetup, but we could if a few people step up. With December, February, and DrupalCamp in April, we are at least on a bi-monthly schedule.

Nobody else has offered to pick a time and place for the Drupal meetup - one of our members, Tyme, got in touch with a Valencia teacher named Rob McCaffrey, who has reserved a room on the East Campus, Building 1, room 345 (on Econ Trail between Colonial Dr and the 408). At our last meetup we discussed possibly having meetups on the 3rd Monday, but Rob was not available this week.

Just Launched: ModuleNotes.com!

ModuleNotes.com is a project designed to help designers and non-developers overcome the steep Drupal learning curve.

I created this project as a place where people can discover new modules with descriptions explaining exactly what the module does in simple terms. Whenever possible, ModuleNotes will include demos, tutorials, and screencasts collected from around the web or specifically produced for ModuleNotes.

Check it out here:

DrupalCamp 2013 Coding for a Cause Call for Committee Volunteers.

During last year's Florida DrupalCamp, we built three websites for three non-profit Central Florida based agencies.

I'd like to establish a committee for this year's event where we will outline what we will do, how we will do it, and who we will do it for.

If you'd like to join this year's Coding for a Cause Committee, please leave a comment here.

I am thinking that sometime next week we should have a quick initial call around twenty minutes long just to group up and get things organized.
