River of news
Downtown LA Drupal Meetup on February 21, 2012 at Droplabs: Banking on Drupal at the Echo Park Time Bank
The next Downtown LA Drupal meetup is on February 21, 2012 and will be at Droplabs, a Drupal event and coworking space in Downtown Los Angeles. Created by LA Drupal members for the LA Drupal community, Droplabs is the host of LA Drupal's monthly Downtown LA meetup, the weekly Pro Drupal 7 Development book study group and special events like LA Drupal's job fairs.
LA Drupal meetups follow a basic format and start off with Drupal news and announcements, local job announcements, raffle prizes and full-length presentations. As always, we'll also have community Q&A, during which time anyone in attendance can ask questions, divine answers from the crowd and give brief, 5-10 minute-long presentations known as lightning talks.
For any changes to our agenda, stay tuned to this meetup announcement or click the Sign up button below (or both!) to be notified when the agenda has been updated.
Light food and refreshments will be served throughout the evening courtesy of our food and drink sponsor, Exaltation of Larks, a Drupal strategy, consulting, development and training company with a team of Drupal experts in Los Angeles.
We'll finish off the night with more networking and a Drupal After Dark at 9:30pm.

The High Performance Drupal meetup now meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month. We're meeting again on February 7, 2012 and will be at Filter Digital, a digital solutions agency in Culver City located just two blocks from Media Temple, a familiar venue of Drupal meetups on the Westside.

About High Performance Drupal
What is the High Performance Drupal meetup about? The "high performance" part of the name is a catch-all to describe Drupal scalability, performance and benchmarking but we also discuss hosting, infrastructure, deployment, monitoring and highly repeatable processes. Also, this meetup has been held at coffeeshops in the past and the addition of caffeine makes our meetings feel as if they go faster and faster as the night goes on.
This is an LA Drupal meetup that focuses exclusively on advanced topics and there will not be a Users Helping Users portion to the evening.
Thank you to our sponsors!
Light food and refreshments will be served throughout the evening courtesy of our food, drink and venue sponsor, Filter Digital, a digital solutions agency.
Our client list spans global brands and Fortune 100 companies to startups and boutique firms. Let us help you create a digital solution that fits your needs!
Our projector for the evening is being provided by Exaltation of Larks, a Drupal strategy, consulting, development and training company with a team of Drupal experts in Los Angeles.
We like doing hard things on the web and excel at creating and maintaining exceptional Drupal sites with unexceptional budgets.

UUASC-LA Presents "Introduction to Git" by Randal Schwartz on January 5, 2012 at Media Temple in Culver City
Randal Schwartz, host of the Floss Weekly podcast, will presenting a very thorough introduction to git at the UUASC-LA meetup in Culver City on Thursday, and y'all are welcome to attend. Worldwide Coworking Day at Droplabs on January 16, 2012 #JELLYWEEK2012
January 16, 2012 is Worldwide #JELLYWEEK in North America and at Droplabs we're celebrating with a day of coworking (or jelly, as they call it in Australia). You're invited!
Drupal Coworking Friday at Droplabs on January 27, 2012
Droplabs is happy to take part in Drupal Coworking Friday, a worldwide event spurred in part by the DrupalEasy Podcast #65 which featured Droplabs. We're in Downtown Los Angeles and are happy to host anyone in our local community or who is just passing through for some coworking on the last Friday of each month for some coworking. This event is free!
While every day is a Drupal coworking day at Droplabs, we're doing something different on Drupal Coworking Fridays and will provide light food and drinks all day. These are being hosted by Blake, Christefano and Paul, a few of the Droplabs founders.
After the day is over, a group of us will go to a nearby restaurant or pub. In the past we've had beers and a bonfire and were serenaded by Skrillex. We've also gone to a variety of other locations, including Barbara's at The Brewery (at 620 Moulton Ave., just a 5 minute walk away) and Carnitas Michoacan (on 1901 N. Broadway, just a 5 minute drive away).
About Drupal Coworking Friday:
- Proposed date: Last Friday of each month
- It takes place in your local city
- Anyone can start/host one
- Focused on Drupal Professionals (freelance, fulltime, part time, in office, home, etc.)
- This is not a meetup, code-sprint, BoF or presentation
- Attendees would still do their regular work/calls/etc
- Other Drupal folks would be there to talk to, collaborate, advise (and likewise for the attendee)
- Ideally, an entire section of the space will be dedicated for Drupal professionals
See http://groups.drupal.org/node/195983 for the Drupal Coworking Friday FAQ and the Coworking group at http://groups.drupal.org/coworking for general information about coworking.
