Icons for Drupal
We need a unified way of doing icons for drupal, this will be the place where we will document these guidelines and build a first generic Drupal iconset.
Icon Project Blog
I know Ximo had a blog for the icon project, but I couldn't immediately find it from the Icons for Drupal group, here's a cross-reference:

He's got some great things going on. Keep up the great work Joakim!
Icon Module discussion
As you probably know, the Icon Module has been accepted as a Summer of Code project. Thanks a lot for the support and enthusiasm you've already shown! Quicksketch and yoroy will be my mentors this summer (thanks!), and I hope everybody else interested in getting icons into Drupal will help out by sharing their views and knowledge. The project affects themers, icon designers, developers and end users - so any form of feedback is appreciated!
Icon Module
Description
The Icon module will add a central system for icons in Drupal, which will help improve the usability. In a way similar to themes or modules, it will allow users to install icon sets and choose which icons to use for their theme. By providing a simple API, developers may use icons in their modules in an easy and coherent way, without reinventing the wheel.
Icons will improve the usability of Drupal's admin pages, which are often overloaded with text and are especially unfriendly to new users. The module will allow administrators to install icon sets, and optionally select which icons to use from the installed sets. The main goal is for this module to be included in core, so I'll look at the implementations of themes and modules in core to build a system of that standard. With a framework like this, themers and developers would have a standard way of adding icons to Drupal..
Icon Module Develoment Plan Posted
Moved to official ideas list at http://drupal.org/node/237901
Hello everyone! I'm not meaning to spam the group, but I wanted to get out a brain-dump of actually how icons could be implemented in Drupal. yoroy has kick-started the group with a lot of great ideas about creating icons and defining a set of icons that should be included with Drupal. What I've attempted to do is start the complementary part of making icons a part of Drupal: how to actually put them on the page.
Drupal icon.module Design (Implementaton)
This page details nitty-gritty details about how the icon.module should work at a code level. This is the third part of 3 development documents that should serve as an outline for building a module to manage icons in Drupal. This page is a wiki.
- Requirements - What is needed for icons in Drupal.
- Specifications - How using icons should work from the end-user experience

Ok, icon drawing time! Here's my suggestions for some specs and guidelines to get started with. All feedback welcome.
In the attachment:
- an icon template file for Inkscape
- basic directory structure for organising and categorisation of the icon sources and png renders.
The directories are mostly empty, but have a look in the applications and the mimetypes folder, there are SVG files for:
- forum icons
- calendar icons
- mimetype icons (with PSD sources for 16 and 32px versions which are actually further developed then the SVG!)
Enable KDE icon sets in Drupal
Status: moved http://groups.drupal.org/node/9836 to the official ideas list; please comment over there.
We will be drawing our own icons but wouldn't it be nice if people could enable existing icon sets within Drupal as well?
- a module that lists available iconsets, something like the themes admin page
- configure how the icons are used: sizes, where to use, where not.
- map the existing naming spec to basis Drupal concepts
- integrate with your theme (generate an icons.css file?)
Drupal Icons, the list
Excludinging the images found in the core-themes, the color.module colorwheel graphics and the 'powered by Drupal' promo badges in /misc we get the list of the Drupal core 'system graphics':

Volunteers to create images for the rootcandy theme?
Hi,
its great to see a group dedicated to icons for Drupal
Right now the following theme
http://drupal.org/project/rootcandy
Rootcandy could really use icons on its Dashboard page if the dashboard page could look like the following wire frame:

Icons for Drupal (meta document)
Part of the usability efforts is coming up with some Drupal specific icons. Icons show up here and there in Drupal core but more often in contributed modules. We should try to connect and align these efforts. Make them more consistent in application and look/feel.
