Projects Needing Financing
projects-needing-financing connects donors to Drupal developers. All of us users of Drupal could use some new features or improvements, and most developers could use resources to do more work on Drupal contributed modules, core, and other projects. (This group also serves for discussion about how to make connecting finances to needs easier, particularly for aggregating small donors.) Read more.

Contract Senior Developer | Hall Investments
Hi, I am looking for an experienced developer to help us with integrating Drupaligg into an existing site. Here are some details:
-
Site promotes product reviews and deals, and the Drupaligg component will handle the deals and community/voting component.
-
Drupaligg features will allow registered users to submit deals (incl. link, image, etc.)
-
Existing site is built on LAMP platform
-
Site has a very basic CMS to handle (mostly) unrelated functions
-
Drupaligg data needs to work with current MySQL database for deals (we already have deals in the DB)
Drupal Open Learning Initiative
There are many great Drupal learning resources, groups, and tools but they can be somewhat disconnected and spread out. Our goal is to unify and bring these efforts together to provide a complimentary program and platform that serves all Drupal learning initiatives needs and efforts.
Drupal Kata
The Drupal Kata is a new project learning program that provides hands on training in a wide range of areas ranging from site planning, drafting proposals, project management, information architecture, development, design, infrastructure, to business and community. It does this by pairing apprentices with a mentor or mentors, thus gaining exposure to real-world scenarios and connections with the local and global community. The knowledge transfer allows apprentices to become proficient, contribute back to the community, and retain the skills for gainful employment in the field of their choice.
Drupal Dojo
The evolutionary stages of the program seeks to follow through with the Drupal Dojo 2.0 vision by building off complimentary sites and collaborating with existing teams. A collaboration with the Open Media Project will provide a unique opportunity to craft a custom program to provide development help, training, and documentation and marketing on a regional level.
Announcing Geo June
Hi everyone!
At DrupalCON DC, we demoed some of the work we've been doing on Geo and related modules. We'd like to get these modules to a stable and dependable state so that other mapping solutions, such as GMAP and Openlayers can also be stable and well-supported.
Drupal Media Projects, Tasks and Initiatives
The following are ongoing and/or proposed projects pertaining to Drupal media. Many of these have shared needs for features, documentation, and qualified talent to do the much needed work.
Drupal products, distributions, and installation profiles
Drupal funding and training initiatives
This the following is a compilation of Drupal funding and training initiatives, ideas, and discussions.
Funding and training initiatives
Grants and sponsored training programs
- Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a program that offers student developers stipends ($5000 per accepted developer) to write code for various open source projects.
Decisionmaking API & Consensus Module
This is a donor-initiated proposal to fund the developer-initiated project Decisionmaking API & Consensus Module.
I am putting up $5,000 dollars and looking for other early donors to put up an additional $15,000 at which point we would take the proposal to the Drupal community as an opportunity to get their donations matched if this project is to reach its funding requirement of $40,000 and proceed.
About
This group is perfect for you if:
- you're a Drupal project maintainer/developer looking for a place to post your reverse-bounty project!
- you're a Drupal user looking for a project to donate some money to or needing a project to be worked on!
This group was created because a need exists to match financial donors with Drupal projects being worked on by project maintainer/developers needing financial assistance* in order to enhance and add to:
- Drupal core**
- Drupal contributed modules
- and other Drupal-related projects.
Could someone please take over this group?
I'm currently the "Manager" of this group but am trying to cut down on my group subscriptions and desire to leave the "Projects Needing Financing" group. When I go to "My Membership" for this group, it states: "You may not leave this group because you are its owner. A site administrator can assign ownership to another user and then you may leave."
So, anyone interested in taking over the group? Please let me know by posting a reply here.
Thank you!
Walt
Open learning and collaboration portal
The following project initiative seeks to follow through with the Drupal Dojo 2.0 vision by building off complimentary sites and collaborating with existing teams. A collaboration with the Open Media Project will provide a unique opportunity to craft a custom program to provide development help, training, and documentation and marketing on a regional level.
Project Goals and Desired Outcomes
An effective learning, mentoring, and collaboration platform
Create a more effective platform to provide free online training, mentoring, and a showcase for Drupal. This goal encompasses these needs:
Collective funding, design and development of Drupal projects
I would like to raise a discussion about the prospect of the Drupal community using a system that allows collective design, funding and development of any Drupal project.
Think about it this way: if the Knight Drupal Initative is the Google summer of code for Drupal, what I'm proposing is a Google year of code for Drupal, only there is no single entity such as Google or DKI funding projects, the funds come from community. My partner and I have already implemented a solution that makes that possible (www.fossfactory.org). I would like to hear from you about how suitable this model is for the Drupal community at large.
Geo module is minimally functional in D6
I've had some time and some funding, so I've roughed in my proof of concept on a D6 version of Geo. In traditional geek style, the most informative descriptions are in my commit messages: http://drupal.org/project/cvs/147736
Basically, my goal is to demystify "geospatial", while integrating it as much as possible within Drupal. It needn't be an academic exercise to get this data working properly, so I've tried to keep things simple. The goals/implementation do the following:
ChipIn started for signup.module D6 porting and other improvements
FYI: I started a ChipIn to raise money to improve the Signup module and port it to D6. The development goals that will be accomplished if we raise the money are: a) drive the CCK integration patch home, b) do everything else needed for a 5.x-2.5 release, and c) port to D6.
Drupal Programmer who can do it all and would be interested in an equity position + paid compensation. | Startup
We have built a web 3.0 online music property and are hoping to launch once we integrate a few critical improvements to our current site. Startups tend to get a bad rap, I understand this. Logging long hours and being paid with promises is never an easy thing to do. Ironically, this is exactly what we're asking you to do. Our company is in a position to offer equity plus pay you a reduced fee for your contract work that will bring our site to a place we feel comfortable launching with.
Node_media, an effor to extend and provide support for Node_images
Why do it need fund?
A bit of history
I initially developed Node Media(NM) as a patch for Node Images(NI) for a custom project. This gained recent attention because the moving to D6. So stefano73(author of NI) pointed NM as successor of NI.
People needs this lightweight alternative
Project* roadmap for D6
Now that Drupal 6 is out, getting the project* family of modules ported to D6 is going to become an urgent task. We want to ensure that by the time the final release candidates are out, we're ready to upgrade drupal.org to D6 (which must happen before the official 6.0 release is possible). That's going to take a lot of effort, and hunmonk and I have some very specific plans for how it should all happen. This page will be the place to keep track of what has to get done, in what order, so that anyone who wants to help knows where to put their efforts. It's obviously a work-in-progress, so feel free to help keep it updated, add issue links where appropriate, cross off things that are completed, or add other steps that need to happen.
I'm cross-posting this to a lot of groups since: a) converting project* to use views is a big part of this effort (so we have significantly less code to support in project* and port to newer versions of core), b) since we need lots of volunteers/help, and c) in case anyone is able to help sponsor some of this work to ensure that everything is completed well before the core maintainers would like to ship 6.0. Thanks!
Hi there.
I'm currently working on a Share This module similar to the version available for Wordpress using code compatible for Drupal 5. It will display bookmarking sites within a jquery dropdown and allow you to share your site by clicking on the relevant bookmarking site.
Does anyone require this module and maybe intrested in a bounty? I'm looking for $400 and currently have someone intrested and contributing $100.
Here's an example of the module on a Wrodpress Site: http://alexking.org/blog
Also i've setup a Chipin for this too:

Basecamp
First off, I just joined this group and I'd have to say it's a damn good idea and needed.
I know a lot of people in the community use 37 Signals' Basecamp for their projects and for myself, one thing that has been extremely annoying is the fact that you can never have a central place to go to that aggregates all of your to do list items or milestones from all projects to the same place.
I'm talking even in situations where your client is the one that owns the Basecamp account so then you have to login to theirs.
Fund the ability to use external URLs with the Audio module
Drewish has a reverse bounty going to add the ability to use external files with the audio module. This will allow you to have a remote store of MP3 or other audio files, and easily include them in your Drupal site, including in a Flash audio player, using the audio module.
See the Drupal issue tracker for more details: http://drupal.org/node/47998
Marketplace for Module Development and Improvement– pooling resources of developers
I'm glad Darren Oh has got a solid proposal for this group. I would suggest that the most needed aspect of a Drupal marketplace would be a way for individual Drupal users and Drupal shops – especially smaller shops – to pool resources to fund specific module development.
User dahacouk called for more structure and a funding model to make the quality of contributed modules the best they can be.
To quote from my endorsement and proposal:
projects-needing-financing connects donors to Drupal developers. All of us users of Drupal could use some new features or improvements, and most developers could use resources to do more work on Drupal contributed modules, core, and other projects.
