The ASU Web Editorial Board recently redesigned the ASU header and is requiring many ASU web sites to adopt the new header and footer. All ASU core (administration) web pages must use the new header by July 15th. All colleges and departments must use it by January 2009.
The new templates for static XHTML pages and the revised ASUzen theme for Drupal will both be released on April 15th. The new theme will be available for download from http://template.asu.edu. The site will have examples and documentation for installing the theme. Documentation on upgrading a theme will also be available in the Drupal handbook on ASU Web Community.
For existing Drupal sites that are upgrading, developers are strongly encouraged to test the theme on a development site. Because the theme uses CSS, it will almost certainly cause some problems for most sites. The theme is guaranteed to work perfectly out-of-the-box only. The more customized a site is, the greater the chance that CSS inheritance will effect the layout.
Questions and concerns about using the new theme can be posted on the ASU Web Community's Drupal forum.
