Open Source Barbecue: (Rained out)
Bad news. Even though it's sunny now, all weather forecasts point to thunderstorms by noon. With people traveling from as far away as New Hampshire, I'd rather hold this on a day with less risky weather. We'll do this on another weekend in June.
True to open source tradition, I will be offering up my empty parking lot and grill for the community to use, tweak, and harness for the greater good. Users are free to access and modify these tools and contribute your newly grilled works back to the community for immediate review. I've got support materials (plates, cups, forks, condiments, etc) but this project is counting on you to bring a lot to the table.
There will be no structure to the event unless you bring some. It's an opportunity to network, socialize, and shoot the breeze with other friendly Drupalers outside of the darkened conference rooms we might be used to. BUT, there will be wireless access in case you want to do any "real work" with a new Drupal friend.
I will serve up a half dozen gallons of freshly made Open Cola on tap.
This space is also excellent for four square, something in which I have some knowledge and skill.
Mark it, May 31, 12-4PM, Somerville MA. Directions to follow shortly, it will be T accessible, and of course, weather permitting.
It would be awesome to tell me that you want to be there, and more awesomer to let us know what materials you are bringing for the grill. Please comment.

Alas...
As a fellow Somervillain, I wouldn't miss it for the world - but I will miss it to see the Sox at Camden Yards that weekend...
Tap a keg of Open Source Beer for me...

I really wish I could make it too, but I'll be at a wedding in NH at that time. Damn!
Perhaps we can have an encore event in June or July...maybe instead of our monthly meetup?

Thats a really good idea to have outdoor meetups in the summer. We don't need to do the Berkman thing during our precious summer evenings.
A better excuse
Well, now I have a better excuse for missing the Open Source BBQ.

At 7pm, I think, but since it'll be my last day with my girlfriend before we'll be separated for 10-11 weeks I'll be with her and not you guys. That's in no way a reflection on you or barbequeue foods! :o)

Since it's a weekend, I should be able to come down from NH for this. :)

Sadly, if it ends up being tomorrow I'm not going to be able to make it.... Husband's grandparents decided they were coming to Vermont for the weekend, so I'm going to have to go northbound this weekend instead of southbound. Hoping it rains so we have to reschedule and I don't miss it. ;)
Rained out
Too many sources are telling me that there will be some whopper thunderstorms between noon and 2PM. I can see people where planning on traveling pretty far to come to this and that would make it an extra bummer if we were doused in a storm. I'll pick a new weekend within the next two weeks and reset the date anew.
Now, lets hope that my trust in weather prediction is vindicated by a nasty rain storm so I don't feel like such a wuss.
