A question was recently posted in the Introductions thread about why this group is called Rochester, NY but refers to itself as being a group for Western NY. Why not call it the WNY Group?
Since I chose to make this distinction in the name, I'll explain my reasons.
I believe that there is room in the future for a Buffalo, NY Drupal group and a Syracuse, NY Drupal group... (although neither exist yet). For this particular group, all meet-ups, etc. will occur in Rochester, NY (which is more central for any folks in Buffalo and Syracuse who may come out). I'd rather do it this way than have a WNY group that grows too large and eventually needs to be split up.
So, as it says in the group introduction: Buffalo & Syracuse (and parts south), you are warmly welcome, and encouraged to build up enough people to start a group specifically for your local areas... Then we'll all get together someday and have a Western NY Drupal Picnic! :)
Your additional thoughts are welcome.

+1 Rochester, NY
Ok.. Thought I had subscribed to this group, but didn't see any update emails. Sorry about that Andrew.
At the moment the organizers behind this group are all located in Rochester and Rochester is central to Buffalo and Syracuse. Makes sense to leave it named Rochester
