Greetings! My name is Christian Yates, and I'm migrating from Savannah, GA to Tempe to join the team at ASU's Mars Space Flight Facility as their chief web geek.
I'm coming from nine years tenure in the newspaper business, building and managing media web sites. Working with scientists and engineers will be a refreshing change of pace, though I do hope to apply my expertise gained in developing our Drupal-based interactive features and niche sites at islandpacket.com, beaufortgazette.com, mom2momsc.com and outdoorsc.com to applications for the my job here. I'll be starting next week, June 30.

Greetings from San Diego
Chris,
So what's this you're moving to Tempe from GA? Having spent a good number of Years in Arizona, I thought you might want to know a couple of key facts.
(1) It's a Dry Heat
(2) I have seen the airports close because it was to hot for planes to fly
(3) This summer you will have a week where the daily temperture doesn't drop below 115 degrees
(4) April and May are the most beautiful months in the desert
(5) In August, you'll come visit us in San Diego.
Congratulations on the new job! Be sure to call us if we can be of any help.

Hey Christian - Welcome to
Hey Christian - Welcome to AZ. Sounds like a pretty cool gig you found. Good Luck.
Congratulations!
Well, looking at http://www.mars.asu.edu, it appears they are using DreamWeaver to build some of their pages. And its a little uncertain if they have a CMS for the other pages. Eww, and they're using table-based layouts for a lot of pages. :-p
Looks like you've got a lot of work ahead of you! :-D
Fortunately, I know there is an active ASU Drupal meet-up. There's going to be a meeting on June 6. And I'm going to be talking to them next week about getting their regular meet-ups listed on this site.
You did Drupal websites in the newspaper industry in Georgia. Really? Did you ever meet Ken Rickard? I've just started working with him and he was doing Drupal/newspaper stuff in Georgia, too.

Wow, I haven't checked in on G.D.org in a while...
Yes, I've moved to Tempe, and just finished month #2 at the Mars Space Flight Facility.
I'm currently working on moving most of their public facing sites to Drupal. Their old way is lots of custom Perl/Mason scripting, which gives me flashbacks to my last gig. We plan to launch the first two sites (a complete redesign of http://www.mars.asu.edu and http://jmars.asu.edu) in the next couple of weeks.
I ended up writing a handful of modules, some of which I'll be releasing to the community (including a simple one I already have, and I've written several patches to modules like Asset, which we'll be using fairly extensively.
John - It looks like I missed the first ASU DUG meeting, but I'll be sure to go to the next one.
I did meet Ken in person this spring at DrupalCon Boston. I had corresponded with him and some other Morris folks before that. In my previous life I was the VP of Interactive for two McClatchy newspapers just over the South Carolina border from Savannah, GA.
Jeff - Yeah, we picked just about the worst time of year to move here, but it hasn't been bad. I actually prefer 105+ degree days with 20% humidity to 90 degree days with 100% humidity. Go figure.

New in Drupal and also just move to Mesa
Hi
I just moved to Tempe where my husband is pursuing his medical study at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. I am interested to learn Drupal so that I can understand and design my own website.
Anyone near by that can help me to learn about Drupal?
