Not Mailman Please.
Well maybe not mailman specifically :). But what kind of options are there for mass emails and/or subscriptions besides mailman? There are some Drupal modules that do this (subscriptions), what else?
Multi-Site
This subject is near and dear to me. There are so many options and I'd have to say most of the really frustrating issues I've run into have been multi-site related, or the fact that I'm running a multi-site server seems to complicate matters more than I'd like. I would love to hear how others deal with this.
Right now I'm working on four different servers (one shared host, one VPS and one fully dedicated hardware...plus my development server). All are multi-site setups. My usual mode of deployment is to create a dev site on my local server, get it working then deploy.
One recent example... http://mida.summittdweller.com. The "real" domain name for this site will one day be "MidIowaDriving.com", but that name is currently pointed to an old site. Once I get ownership of the domain I'll point it to mida.summittdweller.com.
The questions around this...
What should the Drupal name of this site be?
What should the cookie domain of this site be?
If I redirect MidIowaDriving.com to my new Drupal site, is there a way to force the browser to show the site address as "MidIowaDriving.com" rather than mida.summittdweller.com?
All of these issues seem to become more complex when I want to introduce a phpBB forum into the site or deal with IMCE and user file uploads. Both IMCE and phpBB seem to be VERY sensitive to proper cookie domain naming.

Too Much Work
Sorry to drop in so late but I've just got too much work left on my plate today to make it tonight to Iowa City. Also a little concerned about the wall of snow that appears to be rolling into Iowa right now. It's forecast to arrive here about the time I'd be getting home tonight.
Again, sorry that I can't make it this evening. Looking forward to longer days (daylight, not work) and fewer travel issues. I have my fingers crossed for February (and beyond).
