Microfinance Information Exchange - Web Developer position

We are looking for a developer to join our industry-leading technical team. That developer will work with our team of expert analysts to produce and maintain the reference tools for the microfinance world.

Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX) is a non-profit that collects and exposes data about the global microfinance industry. We believe that greater transparency will lead to helping the poorest of the poor rise from their station. Learn more about us at http://www.themix.org.

We are passionate about our work, and we want people similarly excited. Our primary technical project is mixmarket.org, a website that helps researchers and funders answer question about the financial and social impact of microfinance the world over.

We are based in Washington, DC, along with offices in Hyderabad, India, and Lima, Peru, and Rabat, Morocco. Our development team is currently based in Portland, OR.

Requirements
- 2+ years fluency in PHP
- familiary with object oriented programming principles
- 2+ years experience with a popular web framework
- 2+ years experience with a popular RDBMS
- ability to work in both team and self-managed situations
- great communication skills, with both technical and non-technical team members
- command line comfort
- experience with a version control system
- an appreciation of pragmatism
- interest in microfinance, international development, or issues of poverty

Pluses
- experience with Drupal
- experience with the Views2 API
- experience with aggregation
- experience with a document-oriented database
- contribution to an open source project
- light Linux system administration experience
- knowledge of a foreign language
