Wednesday March 16th @ 7:00pm

One week after Drupalcon Chicago, we will be discussing/recapping what we learned, thought, and hope to share with our community. At the same time, down the street, Civicon took place in Chicago and we have Young-Jin Kim from Emphanos to provide a summary of what we missed. Plus Young-Jin will be doing an introduction to CiviCRM. In addition, CDMUG rock star Andy Martha converted cdmug.org into Drupal 7 and lived to tell the stories of upgrading from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7. Neha Gupta volunteered to upgrade CDMUG's Zen based theme to Drupal 7 and has new theme advice for everyone to look out for.

Young-Jin has been writing software using open source tools for the last 15 years. He's been using and deploying websites in Drupal, and implementing and training non-profit organizations to use CiviCRM since 2007. He's the founder of Emphanos a company that specializes in applying the power of open source software to businesses and the non-profit sector.

Packt Publishing sent us a copy of Drupal 7 Module Development to give away during the Upgrading Drupal 6 to Drupal 7 presentation. Book will be randomly given away to one lucky attendee after the presentation.

The Chicago Drupal Meet Up Group is proud to present at least two featured presentations about the hottest Drupal topics each month. We have room for about 75 people and all skill levels are welcomed. If you are brand new to Drupal we recommend attending one of our free monthly training workshops.

Duo Consulting has volunteered the meetup location. Comment your RSVP with name and bring photo ID to gain authorized access to Duo's office downtown.

For our Drupalcon recap, we are requesting members who attend Drupalcon Chicago to take notes and stand up for 5 minutes during our March meetup for a recap. In 5 minutes, summarize your Drupalcon experience. During the conference think of questions you can reflect on during our group meeting. Which presentation taught you something new? Did you learn about any cool new modules everyone should know about? Did you learn more about design, theme, development, or business? Let's face it, Drupalcon has too many great topics and presentations running simultaneously to experience everything. This will give our group a chance to ensure we didn't miss out on the next rock star topic of Drupal.

Young-Jin Kim from will be presenting....an overview of what happened at CiviCon followed by an introduction to CiviCRM. The focus will be on the following topics:

  1. What is CiviCRM? (with special emphasis on what CiviCRM is not)
  2. What happened at CiviCon?
  3. How does CiviCRM relate to Drupal?

Andy Martha and Neha Gupta will be presenting....CDMUG.org: A case study of upgrading from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7. An extremely popular question currently all over our community is "How do we upgrade to Drupal7?". In an effort to layout the ideas and options for an upgrade, we used our own website as a case study for educational purposes. Andy and Neha are dedicated CDMUG members who volunteered for the opportunity to rebuild cdmug.org into Drupal 7. In case you didn't know, CDMUG has had a Drupal website for every version since 4.7. That is a site for Drupal 4.7, 5, 6, now 7, and we will of course build one for version 8 (any volunteers)?

Almost every CDMUG presentation is recorded and now available online @ http://cdmug.org/videos

If you are not able to physically attend, join us virtually in our #cdmug IRC chat room on freenode. Members hang out in the chat room on a daily basis even when meetups are not happening. If you are unfamiliar with IRC view http://drupal.org/irc feel free to utilize our web based chat client @ http://cdmug.org/chat

All meetups will be in traditional CDMUG fashion. No dress code, relaxed attitudes, open ideas, laptop encouraged, remember business cards, and we will probably go for a beer afterward.

Contact us if you are interested in presenting, have ideas for the group, or have any type of feedback - http://cdmug.org/contact or follow us on twitter @ twitter.com/cdmug
