Following in Bill Fitzgerald's footsteps, I thought I'd mention here in the PDX group something I also posted on d.o. I belong to a search and rescue group here in the Portland area called Pacific Northwest Search & Rescue, and about a year ago, I redid the site in Drupal. Since doing so, it's allowed us to spread the workload around and take it off of our President, and has become a useful tool in providing information both for members and non-members.
I found out a little while ago that the front page is also going to be used in a technical writing textbook. Longman Publishing (part of Pearson Higher Education publishers), is going to use a screen shot of the front page in their upcoming NYT bestseller Technical Communication Today, 3rd Edition. Their primary interest is the front page, especially the layout and data provided, and the intro text in the top center panel (I didn't write it, so I can't lay claim to that part of it).
I'm not sure how they came across the site, because I'm sure there are many others that do a better job of info presentation on the front page, but I certainly don't mind the exposure. To me, it's also a good demo of what can be done with Drupal. I created the initial site in about 10 hours, and the theme was done in about 8 hours (by Theresa Pridemore). I've spent a few more hours enhancing the site (such as adding Panels 2, upgrading modules, adding more CCK/Views stuff, etc.), but not a ton. It's a volunteer site for me, so I don't get to spend as much time on it as I'd like, but the functionality we get for that amount of time is pretty amazing.
