Not allowedWe are looking for to hire an innovative, motivated, expert PHP/MySQL application developer with real world experience, immediately. The individual will be an integral part of the WBI Systems Team. S/he will report directly to the Team Leader (Information Officer) of the WBI Systems Team.
The primary responsibilities wil be as follows:
A. PHP/MySQL web application development
- Develop interactive applications using Drupal 5.x and 6.x platform using PHP/MySQL on Windows/IIS server.
- Develop applications in PHP/MySQL outside of Drupal as needed.
- Administer Drupal platform which includes backup, site and user management, installation and configuration of existing and new modules, technical support to Project Leads, as well as end-users.
- Systematically monitor release of bug fixes and patches for Drupal platform. Analyse the necessity to apply a given fix or a patch. If necessary apply the patch in development, and on successful test apply the patch in Production environment.
- Setup omniture webstats tracking for each of the Drupal sites.
- Create a template driven approach for developing sites with similar requirements.
- Liaise with the World Bank’s Information Solutions Group (ISG), Office of Information Security (OIS) and Project Leads to ensure that the development and deployment of new sites is done systematically, all new deployments are tested thoroughly in development environment and only then moved to Production environment.
- Troubleshoot and fix issues directly where possible and report all issues which need changes to server to World Bank’s Information Solutions Group (ISG).
- Monitor the resolution of these issues, and escalate it to the immediate supervisor as and when required, to ensure that the issues are being given due attention, by various parties and addressed in a timely manner.
- Test and apply the bug fixes and enhancements in the staging environments, to ensure that the issues have been resolved properly and subsequently deploy the new code on the production environment.
- Communicate with users regarding the changes in the system, production moves and downtime, alert them of any known bugs, and provide possible workarounds.
- Develop a plan of improving Drupal experience by integrating Drupal with other systems, developing themes, add-ons, etc.
- Monitor Drupal performance and take measures to improve it.
- Monitor Drupal community for trends and developments and bring the best practices to WBI
- Provide support to the Project Leads and Vendors to set up new websites in Drupal.
- Provide support to other team members who are providing and setting up content for these websites.
- Create and routinely update Help documentations, to ensure that the users have the knowledge they need to work with the system.
- Provide one-on-one or group training to users as needed.
B. Support for other web based systems and applications
- Provide similar support to other PHP/MySQL based systems such as Moodle on as needed basis.
- Conduct market research of open-source and proprietary solutions based on the needs and opportunitied. Conduct analysis and provide recommendation for suitable solution. Configure and implement the selected product.
- As an integral member of the Systems Team, also work with other members of the team to support, as needed, other WBIGM systems and projects, which would require basic knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, XML, CSS, ASP, PHP, Cold Fusion, SQL server, Oracle, etc.
- Produce as needed, ad-hoc reports by writing database queries using SQL.
