Organization:
The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) is a global think tank based in Waterloo, ON. Created in 2002, CIGI identifies and generates ideas for global change by supporting research, fostering exchange across disciplines, and providing informed advice to decision-makers on international governance issues.

The IGLOO Network - IGLOO.org - was established by CIGI in November 2004 as an online network that permits international collaboration, knowledge sharing and co-ordination among scholars, policymakers and students both from CIGI and external partners.

Web Designer Role:
CIGI is seeking a highly creative designer and strategic thinking Web Designer to join the IGLOO Network team. This position reports to the Director of the IGLOO Network and collaborates with individuals from several departments across the organization and with external partners.

The successful candidate will develop and execute graphic design solutions for various web projects. The candidate should be highly skilled not only in conceptualizing and presenting visual concepts but also in the technical implementation of designs. S/he will produce materials and create designs for web and multimedia. Specific responsibilities include the following:

* Work collaboratively with developers to create designs and multimedia that engage online users
* Design complete web themes, web page concepts/mockups, e-newsletters design, etc.
* Develop website information architecture
* Implement web designs on various technology platforms.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Advanced knowledge of XHTML, CSS, XML and JavaScript Frameworks as demonstrated by examples of work
* A working knowledge of Flash and ActionScript
* A proven track record regarding web design principles, information architecture and usability
  Intermediate to advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and Dreamweaver)
* A familiarity with implementing online multimedia content such as audio and video
* Minimum of 1 to 3 years experience working in online design and development
* A university degree or diploma in graphic/web design
* Comprehensive understanding of W3C standards
* A strong portfolio of online work
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Able to work in a team and independently
* Demonstrated time management skills and attention to detail
* An analytical thinker who can take projects from concept to final product
* An understanding and interest in international relations and the non-profit sector

Desired:

* Previous experience using content management systems
* Familiarity with Drupal
