Front-End Web Developer | D.C. United
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Front-end Developer at D.C. United will be a professional who possesses knowledge of each browser's quirks and is able to create websites that appear and work well on equipment ranging from a Mac computers to Windows-based PCs to mobile devices.
This person will be responsible for assisting the Senior Web Developer in creating new websites, applications and widgets. This person will also be responsible for the daily care and feeding of the public portals and will play an essential role in developing cutting edge web sites as part of United’s new digital media platform.

• Produce clean, error-free code for public-facing website, web applications, or widgets.
• Completes assigned work on-time.
Other:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by D.C. United from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the nature of the sports industry, employees are required to work varying schedules, including evenings and weekends, to reflect the business needs of the company.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.
• Work seamlessly with the communication department co-workers that oversee media relations, community relations and broadcasting functions.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
• Professional and courteous demeanor.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Spanish language fluency preferred.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Education:
• Four-year college degree preferred.
Experience:
• At least two years as front-end developer, working in a deadline-driven environment producing websites or web applications.
• Demonstrated expertise in creating cross-browser user interfaces using HTML, DHTML, CSS, Javascript and XML (plus using them together as AJAX).
• Strong working knowledge of open-source WCMS, especially Drupal and Movable Type.
