Sr. Developer | The_GROOP

THE_GROOP is looking for a senior Drupal developer (i.e. one that really knows Drupal and has worked on at least one project where you were seeing 2+mill pageviews a month and/or your esteemed peers consider you a Drupal Ninja).

The ideal candidate is highly fluent in various technologies (with a focus on Drupal), a creative problem solver, self-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced, high growth environment. Utilizing your strengths you will own development of our user interfaces and applications with our customers. Your responsibilities will include:

Building and maintaining large scale web based applications focused in Drupal but not limited to it.
Working closely with our team and clients on integration using an agile development scrum process

Required Skills:
-Very Proficient in Drupal
-PHP5
-JQuery
-Integrating XHTML and CSS
-BS Degree or equivalent experience
-5+ years of experience in multi-browser HTML and JavaScript web development
-Strong troubleshooting skills
-Strong multi-tasking abilities
-Strong working knowledge of LAMP (PHP, mySQL, Linux, Apache) required
-Strong working knowledge AJAX required
-Prior working knowledge of Web Services required
-Experience writing highly efficient code within highly scalable, highly available environments
-Ideally, applicants will have a history of contributions on drupal.org or other open source community/user group websites.
-Knowledge of the core Drupal development APIs, along with knowledge of other common add-on APIs such as Views, CCK, and OG.

Preferred Skills:
-Prior experience in internet advertising and marketing industry
-Prior experience with rich media, such as streaming video

We plan to be agile, so we will work in short, 2-4 week iterations with continuous integration. And we want excellent test coverage on our code. You will be working in a team with other first-rate designers and developers. If you know deployment best-practices for big installations (10+ mill page-views a month), that would be extra helpful.

RESPONSIBILITIES

-Coding: Most of your time will be spent developing code and architecting solutions for the rest of the team. Our applications rely heavily on Drupal and its APIs and toolsets.
-Technical Decisions: All developers are expected to contribute in the decision making process to help drive the direction of development for our application. You will be expected to make and suggest decisions regarding your code and others.
-Cooperating: We are a team environment, and cooperation and communication are a must. You will be working with other developers, and testers. You will be expected to be well versed with what others are doing and be available to divert your efforts to help others when the need arises.
-Growing: Last but not least, we expect you to move up. We are a young company with a small workforce. The lines of responsibility are often blurred, and all of our staff are encouraged to try things that may be outside their normal areas of expertise.

Applicants must have a very strong work ethic and be willing to keep up with a fast paced, Rapid Application Development environment. As a boutique agency we rely heavily on the dependability and initiative of our employees to get work done under sometimes aggressive deadlines. The work is challenging and rewarding. Ideal candidates will be outspoken when it comes to expressing ideas and will be able to give and accept constructive criticism well. A good sense of humor is also required.
