Position: BlogHerAds Senior Web Developer
Start date: October 15, 2008 (Ideal)
Location: Reports into Silicon Valley headquarters; some remote work okay

BlogHer, the number-one community for women who blog, seeks an experienced Senior Web Developer to lead and nurture the continued growth of this historic online community.
Our Senior Web Developer will be a key contributor to BlogHer's technical infrastructure for BlogHer.com and more than 2,000 Web sites. This Senior Web Developer will design, develop, troubleshoot, debug and implement code to produce BlogHer’s own network of Web sites as well as advertising and marketing units that will appear on thousands of blog affiliates. These units will be primarily designed and served by third-party advertisers and servers. In the coming year, BlogHer expects to do additional production work in-house to support original programming and marketing.
Our Senior Web Developer will have strong skills in Web best practices and can help BlogHer enter its next stage of rapid growth. We are looking for someone who has an insatiable attention to detail and can complete a project end-to-end within aggressive timelines and an excellent customer service ethic.
The Senior Web Developer will also anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. Finally, the Senior Web Developer will provide leadership to other technical members of the team in terms of knowledge sharing and customer service.
The right individual will need maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, and ability to influence, analytical abilities, and a positive approach, which are all essential and critical to being successful in this role. The Senior Web Developer should not only be passionate about delivering extensible, on-time solutions, but should also be eager to contribute to the development of high-performance teams through rigorous goal-setting, disciplined attention to performance metrics, continuous process improvement, and mutual support and mentorship.
Experience with Information Architecture/ Usability, IT, blog technologies (Drupal, Typepad, Blogger), ad-serving technologies (DART, OAS 24/7 Real Media) is essential.
Responsibilities:
· Working with a team of fellow producers/developers, ensure that web product development meets standards, guidelines, objectives and specifications, and is delivered on time
· Establish and enforce policies and best practices around code management, QA, scalability and site performance
· Write limited technical documentation as well as contribute to existing business requirements documentation for Web pages and applications
· Working with Product Director and fellow producers/developers, contribute to ongoing improvement in development processes
· Share knowledge and mentor teammates to increase knowledge base all around
Skills:
· Exceptional PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills
· Deep knowledge of Drupal and other content management systems
· Profound knowledge of compatibility issues across major browsers and platforms
· Strong understanding of UI and Web design excellence and ability to effectively communicate these qualities to contributing cross functional business units
· Excellent familiarity with blogging platforms (Blogger, Typepad, WordPress) and integration issues within them
· Understanding of web capabilities and new technologies within the blogging and social media industries
· Ability to work with others in a demanding, fast-paced environment
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and quickly
· Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
· Strong track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional projects.
