The Applications Programmer will assist the Peirce Edition Project's Associate Technical Editor in programming and developing an innovative web-based scholarly-text editing platform (STEP) designed for scholarly editors to transcribe, edit and annotate documents, and publish the Peirce critical edition. This position will program several modules that make up that electronic platform, which will run entirely on-line through Drupal - a web Content Management System - and a MySQL database. This position will assist with the following tasks: programming a custom XML editor in order to allow structured text markup of manuscript transcription and creating modules to digitize images, databases, transcriptions, editing, textual apparatus, annotation, bibliography and layout.

Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Informatics and 1-3 years experience (recent graduates are encouraged to apply). Strong knowledge of on-line best practices and standards, Javascript, PHP, MySQL, HTML, and CSS. Familiarity with Drupal, XML, XSLT, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe InDesign, FileMaker Pro and Mac OS X server and Apache.
