Webmaster | SLCN.TV

We are looking for somebody who knows both Second Life as well as Drupal to be a part-time webmaster for the metanomics.net site. Metanomics is a prestigious weekly show about the metaverse and its impact on business and society hosted by Robert Bloomfield of Cornell University. It has been written-up in the Wall Street Journal and is the definitive show about this topic. This doesn't pay a lot, but also won't require too much time for a knowledgable webmaster. It is a great opportunity to work with some of the top thinkers in the metaverse. Please contact garyw@slcn.tv for more information.

(Note that this is a job posting and apparently does not allow me to enable comments. If anybody knows otherwise, let me know.)

Trellon is Hiring Drupal Gunslingers

Have a strong desire to help great progressive organizations make the world a better place? Looking to work with a fantastic team of Drupal developers and build out some really cutting edge sites? Can you write code better than a thousand monkeys with a million years on their hands?

Trellon is a development shop based in Washington, DC and we are looking for a few good programmers to work with our talented team of Drupal developers on some big projects. We’re offering a 1 – 2 month contract to build out a couple of client sites.

If things work out and we like what we see, this will lead to a full time job offer at the end of the contract. Otherwise, you get to spend your time working on cool custom modules, some really innovative themes and help out a few worthwhile causes all while getting paid a decent salary. And you don’t even have to leave your bedroom to do it!

You need to have:

A strong working knowledge of Drupal.

A decent understanding of mysql.

The ability to work in a Linux environment.

A way to be productive working from home (i.e. high speed internet access, skype, IRC, SSH chops).

A positive attitude and genuine desire to get things done.

Other things we would like to see:

CSS skills.

The ability to develop for CiviCRM.

A demonstrated conceptual understanding of social networking and online communities.

People who know how to have fun.

If you think you fit the bill, send an email to jobs@trellon.com that includes a resume or list of links to past projects along with your name and the best time to talk. We will get in touch with you right away. If you have submitted a resume before and not heard from us, feel free to submit it again.

About Trellon

Trellon, LLC is a DC based political consulting firm specializing in the use of the Internet and New Media to achieve social change. Founded by two members of Wesley Clark’s 2004 web team, Andrew Hoppin and Michael Haggerty, the company has been around for a while. We work with some of the greatest non-profit causes, political campaigns, international efforts and grassroots organizations in the world. Our team has contributed numerous modules for Drupal including petition, casetracker, eventfinder and more. We believe in community - you can find us regularly sponsoring cool progressive events like the Personal Democracy Forum, YearlyKos, RootsCamp, just to name a few. Check out our Web site at www.trellon.com for more information about what we do.

Good Analog to look to: Moodle+SecondLife

http://www.sloodle.com

Thanks to Troy McLuhan (http://groups.drupal.org/user/2566) for pointing this out to me. Looks like a great analog for us to look to, especially in light of efforts already underway to integrate Moodle and Drupal.

Wishlist for Second Life / Drupal integration

I have immediate interest in exploring the following Drupal/SecondLife integration elements: (not a comprehensive list! :)

-Have SecondLife chat transcripts autopost as nodes to a corollary Drupal site

-Map SecondLife accounts to Drupal accounts and vice-versa

-Have registering for an Organic Group on a Drupal site automatically add a user to a SecondLife group and vice-versa

-Have Nodes on a Drupal site automatically publish as posts in a SecondLife group and vice-versa

-Easily publish movies (video capture) of SecondLife activity to a node... A machinima (http://secondlife.com/showcase/machinima.php) plugin for Broacast Machine (http://www.getdemocracy.com/broadcast/) anyone? ;)

-Capture metadata such as L$ (Linden Dollars) from an SL account in a corresponding Drupal account and CiviCRM record

SecondLife plays pretty nicely with XML RPC via "config reader and “feed requester” and other scripts I'm told, but I don't have direct experience. Anyone here an expert with SL's API beta (http://www.programmableweb.com/api/secondlife)?
