Drupal Developer | Saforian

Employment type:
Full time
Telecommute:
Allowed

Saforian is a small, professional creative firm located in Northern Virginia. We are growing our team and looking for a talented full-time developer with strong Drupal, PHP, and MySQL coding background.

Our flexible services focus on high-quality design, standards-based front-end code, and open source back-end development. We have a large variety of clients ranging from non-profits to restaurants to large corporations. Most of our exciting new projects are utilizing Drupal as the core CMS. Your role would be our primary back-end developer on these client sites: configuring Drupal, customizing existing modules, and creating custom ones when needed. You will also help define requirements for new projects, and take the lead in planning and developing new small-to-midsize PHP/MySQL web apps (outside of Drupal) for clients.

Being a creative firm, you will need to have a decent eye for design and coordinate with our visual and interface designers when developing user-friendly sites.

We do not have a central office, so you will be able to work independently from home. Preference will given to someone in the DC metropolitan area so we can still meet occasionally.

Job starts immediately! Please send your resume, portfolio, and salary requirements to jobs@saforian.com. We'll try to respond quickly. Learn more about us at www.saforian.com.

Skills requested:

  • Strong experience with professional and best practice PHP, MySQL, and Drupal module development
  • Develop and test secure, clean, and well-commented code
  • Experience with CiviCRM would be a big plus for one upcoming project
  • Able to communicate and play well with our visual designers and front-end coders to ensure output is beautiful and user friendly
  • Decent web standards knowledge (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery). You don't have to be a CSS and accessibility guru... just solid enough to maintain and expand valid templates from our ace front-end coders/themers
  • Able to multi-task on multiple projects at once
  • Can work independently from home and still meet tight deadlines
  • Willing to work full-time for a small, but growing design firm without a rigid corporate structure or office -- set your own hours as long as you get the job done
  • Can communicate well with clients and (if you're in the DC area) willing to attend meetings
  • Can start right away! We're hoping for a full-time employee, but can start on a trial freelance/contract basis if you want to get familiar with our company
