Are there any topics planned
Are there any topics planned for this meeting? Just curious since it is only two weeks away now.
Views?
I've had people interested in Views and arguments and how people have been using them.

Integration with Active Directory?
One request I heard last time was a walk through of what it take takes to integrate with Active directory (or LDAP) Some of the BYU guys seemed to have done this would any one be willing to share how they did it?
I have done a Drupal install
I have done a Drupal install with AD at my current job. I have some good experience with integration of LDAP groups to Drupal Roles. If I can make it I'd love to chime in. With school in session though I don't know if it will be possible, we shall see though.
Andrew (amariotti)

Well, I am the same way with school starting up next week. I would be missing the first class of the semester for Tuesday. So, I was hoping that there was a solid plan for what we were accomplishing this meeting, then I would know if it would be worthwhile to miss class.
Site info PHP snippet
I had mentioned in the last meeting I use some php to show what modules I use on a site. An example of the output is here: http://web3us.com/drupal/content/technical-info
This is the php code to do this:
http://web3us.com/wiki/index.php/Show_all_modules_used_on_a_drupal_site
Thanks for the snippet
Thanks for the snippet. Very cool.

Topics - Book Preview Idea?
One more idea for the meeting.
I am always interested in previewing good books. So what do the rest of you think if we asked folks to bring good Drupal or related books and let others thumb through them at the meeting. I have a copy of the new "Using Drupal" I would be willing to pass around.
Jeff
That sounds good. I have the
That sounds good. I have the Pro Drupal Development book, but it is from Drupal 5 and also it is my employer's copy.
I've got Pro Drupal
I've got Pro Drupal Development for Drupal 6 I can bring to the meeting, plus I think we could get another copy of the Drupal 5 version.
Time will be at 7:30 pm again right?
Just to confirm the Time is 7:30 on Tuesday the 13th?
Yeah Good Catch
Yeah. That's right. Good catch with that. I scheduled it so people can plan on 2 hours if they're able just because last time we ran kind of beyond the hour time frame. People said that extra half hour gave them more time to get there so we'll keep it at 7:30 PM.

Request for Presentations
I appreciate any of you who are preparing to bring information to share, thank you for taking the time. After watching video recordings of several other Drupal events it seems many presenters just talk with no visuals, nothing to take away.
I have a suggestion. It would be great if you could write down simple summary of your key points or tips, something very simple like a power point slide or two, nothing very fancy. That way we have something to remember the best parts of what you say. A power point slide (or other document) could easily be shared on-line so we can make the best use of your tips and suggestions. This could also provide a summary to others who might have missed the meeting.
The better the quality of our group meetings, the more likely we will be have both growth and loyal members.
Topic: OG/CCK/Views/Panels
We've decided to potentially do a multi meeting topic that may extend into some more meetings determined on the amount of time and discussion we have. We've decided to cover Organic Groups, CCK, Views, and Panels and using them together. What does everyone think?

This is a topic I know quite a bit about as I've built 2-3 of those sort of sites over the past couple months in addition to my big project (https://island.byu.edu). I'd be happy to help out in any way needed including doing a walk through of island.
Kyle Mathews
Great, We'd love your help.
Kyle,
Would you be interested in doing that for the meeting? Potentially putting something together that we could benefit from as a group? We have a site we have been doing at ODIN that we've been doing quite a bit with OG, Views, Panels, and CCK we could use as an example along with it. Let me know if that's something you could do. We would love your expertise. Is that site using Panels 2 then? We'll make sure the projector is set up for the meeting too.

Yeah, the site uses
Yeah, the site uses Views/CCK/OG/Panels 2 extensively. I'd be happy to show / talk about whatever the crowd wants to see.
Kyle Mathews
Great
OK Kyle. We'll plan on you doing a walk through of the island if that works and you can explain how you used all those modules together. I'll get you an agenda when you get here. I'll schedule 15 minutes but that's just there for organizational purposes. Time will be determined by the discussion.

Thoughts on meeting outline
Several thoughts
I think we could set aside a little time just for informal discussion about Drupal and some planning topics in our next meetings.
I think it might be worth taking a minute at the start to poll people asking them a few questions like:
How many here have never built a site with Drupal?
Has anyone started developing sites in Drupal 6?
How many here have modified or written modules?
Who has done theme modifications? What modules have you themed?
This could help gear the discussion to the abilities and interest of the audience.
Several of us are planning on a book preview where we can pass around our Drupal books so others can preview them during our meeting.
I think you should cut down the number of modules we try to cover in one night. I believe most of us have already had an introduction and some experience with these modules and I would rather see more depth and less breadth, which will be much easier with a smaller scope. If you try to cover too much all well have time for is very high level information.
Some way to show case (or demo) cool things our users have done on sites might also be interesting... May a list of web sites or a period time for demos
Just some ideas, I am open to what the group wants to do. We get the best meetings by utilizing the community.
Jeff
Additionally...
I'm very new to the group and have very limited use in Drupal but heavy use in PHP - I recently spent the weekend writing a module for drupal 6.x which I found help on Kyle's site - I'd love to share my findings and explain my modules functionality and speak about future modules I've been tasked to work on. Might be a good Q/A season and explore how someone gets started in writing modules.
If not no worries, see you guys there

Chris,
I've tried to schedule some time at the end for a good Q & A. You can share some stuff then. We'd love to hear about your modules.

Just editing them. Don't want the world to know everyone's favorite colors and stuff. The formatting was a bit hard to follow. I have a draft saved. Just need to complete it. I'll do it right now. Just been busy with some projects.
