Drupal Developer | Mobile Voices

Mobile Voices (http://vozmob.net) is a digital storytelling network for first-generation immigrants in Los Angeles. We use low-end mobile phones, Free and Open Source Software, and popular communication pedagogy to build tools and skills with day laborers and other low-wage immigrant workers. The project is a partnership between the Institute of Popular Education of Southern California (http://idepsca.org) and the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication (http://annenberg.usc.edu).

Mobile Voices is seeking activist techs to help build our content management system and web / phone interface. We welcome volunteers but also have some funds to pay for work if we find the right person/group/collective.

Skills we're looking for:

* Drupal: installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, module programming, theming.
* Asterisk: installation, integration with drupal, features programming.
* Sysadmin: debian/ubuntu
* Cell phones: experience with cellphone/web integration a plus, work with MMS a plus
* GUI: also looking for folks who can help w/drupal theming, experience w/jquery a plus
* Spanish: ability to work with Spanish-speaking clients, work on bilingual drupal site, a plus
* Community: experience working with community-based organizations; willingness to work with a diverse crew of students, community activists and programmers.
* Commitment: we hope to find someone who can stay with us for the duration of the project (at least 1 year, ideally longer)

Design / Theme Design / Interface Design

Mobile Voices is looking for folks to help with design, including web design, drupal theme development, user interface design with jquery, and potentially other graphic design including for print. Ideal person/group will have the following skills:

* Strong graphic design skills for web, print, and other media. Portfolio of previous work.
* Drupal theme development experience.
* User interface design, experience with jquery a plus.
* Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
* Community: experience working with community-based organizations; willingness to work with a diverse crew of students, community activists and programmers.
* Commitment: we hope to find someone who can stay with us for the duration of the project (at least 1 year, ideally longer)
