So Twitter decided the world needs about base toolkit for making web apps, Bootstrap.

It looks like it has some really smart default styling and some good established UI patterns. It's worth picking through for inspiration on UI patterns and general core usability.

Forms, in particular buttons, is interesting. Maybe adding styling for the HTML5 "email" input would be a great addition to Seven. The checkbox styling also looks great!
Styling buttons for different functions is some we are already looking into. Disabled styling should be a must.

Navigation. Adding the ability to add drop down items into the toolbar is a solid step forward. An admin search function, similar to OSX Spotlight or Alfred would satisfy site builders or "power users", especially if we make it pluggable so you could execute drush-like functions.

Alerts, closeable messages is a given. Standardizing messages with actions in them is a great idea.

It looks amazing, checked out out the 2.0-wip branch which has a responsive layer to it also.
I would nearly drop Drupal at the blink of an eye if it weren't for the fact it does everything that Bootstrap doesn't lol!

It would be great if 'Seven'

It would be great if 'Seven' could offer this kind of toolkit for core and contribu UI's to make use of.

D8 instead of D7

wbressers's picture

Why not implement in in core in D8??

it solves a lot of implementing issues when this is embedded in core like:
- no hassle with different themes to get a grid layout
- no extra module implementation (for image sliders or such)
- great documentation

I think it's unfeasible to implement it D7 because a lot of modules and themes rely heavily on implemented classes and different html tags.

it write my own bootstrap menu implementation, and the drupal core generated code and the bootstrap required code are not that different. So a bunch of patches would do the job, i'll guess..
