Immediate Opening: Conference Operations Coordinator - $6,000
Left Forum is offering a stipend of $6,000 for the work of Pre-Conference Operations and Registration Coordination with a focus on Systems Operation and Management. The conference operations components are outlined below and focus on all pre-conference operations.
The work will span a period of six months and includes a post-conference period for wrap up work. The work starts in the second half of September or the beginning of October, 2011. While a minimum of 24 hours per week is expected, completion of tasks/responsibilities is of primary importance for this work.
This work will be integrated with a second similar stipend position and thus shares work with the Communications Coordinator (particularly regarding systems operation and management). Both positions require hands on knowledge of the conference organizing database, web and administrative systems outlined below.
Primary Responsibilities
- Database operations (CiviCRM, Excel, Google Docs): including configuration and operations, particularly civiMail and CiviEvent, Civi Contribute, group communications, contact record management, importing, tech support and trouble shooting.
- Registration operations, Exhibition and Advertiser communications and coordination: including email blasts, group communications, reports and tracking processes, and panelists systems administration.
- Operations tasks organized via timeline and tracking/accountability processes management and operation of email accounts
- Editing, e.g., email blast text, plus graphic/html email construction capabilities, assistance with program guide and other key conference communications processes.
- Web operations (Drupal): including website configuration, displays, reports/exports, some web graphics work, work with web developers, trouble shooting, tech support, and content production.
- Assist with social media operations, video, media, and related conference communications systems.
- Help coordinate (e.g., recruit and supervise) volunteers and interns
- Coordinates onsite registration and work with event planners.
- Assist conference coordinator as needed and coordinate work with Communications Coordinator.
Background and Experience
- Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of projects simultaneously and strong organizing skills.
- Experience with office systems management, operations, and configuration.
- Experience with databases (CiviCRM primarily), Drupal, Mailman, Excel, Google Docs and Gmail.
- Experience with Drupal Web management, operations, and configuration.
- Experience with Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively individually, independently, and in a team.
- High level of attention to detail and seeing projects through to their completion.
- Passion for grassroots organizing and social justice.
