Jr and Sr Drupal Developer | New York State Senate

The New York State Senate is seeking experienced Junior and Senior Drupal developers to join the development team in Albany. The Senate uses Drupal to power its website - NYSenate.gov - a site often hailed as the leading web platform for legislative bodies. It has been featured alongside whitehouse.gov during the keynote presentation at DrupalCon San Francisco in 2010 - sf2010.drupal.org/community/news/drupalcon-sf-keynotes-announced.html

A successful Junior Developer would have the following characteristics:

  • 2+ years of experience including custom Drupal module development, theming, and general site administration.
  • Familiarity using Views and Organic Groups in Drupal 6+.
  • PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript.

A successful Senior Developer would have the following characteristics:

  • All the minimum qualifications of a junior developer, plus . . .
  • An additional 2+ years of Drupal experience (4+ total).
  • Familiarity with the Drupal community. Deep understanding of the future road map for core modules, vital contributed modules, and the platform in general.
  • Experience leading a team of developers on a long-term software development project.

We are currently embarking on a major overhaul of NYSenate.gov. Therefore, your candidacy would be greatly enhanced by any of the following characteristics:

  • Familiarity with the differences between Drupal 6 and 7.
  • Past experience upgrading from one major release of Drupal to another.
  • Experience migrating content between complex Drupal installations.
  • HTML5, CSS3, JQuery, Node.JS, responsive design techniques.
  • Mobile development experience.
