Earl Miles has integrated some very cool audio/playlist functionality into his Views Bonus pack. After trying it out on my test site (filtered on audio per user), and some helpful feedback, it's looking like there are all sorts of possibilities and applications.
Here are just a few of the things (I think) we can create:
- playlist for any sort of music related article (posted about that here)
- event and/or venue specific playlists - specific to those performing an event; upcoming/previous shows for a particular venue
- location based - bands coming to a certain area
- artist/album specific playlists
- genre-based playlists
- playlists for a specific year
- maybe even playlists based on organic groups or buddy lists?
In addition to music, wouldn't the same sort of dynamic functionality work for other node types such as podcasts or even video?
Think it would be useful to eventually have some default views, documentation/tutorials. I'm going to see what else I can come up with using my limited knowledge of views and CCK. Would love to collaborate and share ideas.

Looks like there's some action already happening with this (http://drupal.org/node/93968). I'd be very much into helping with the testing and/or low-level development. Let me know if there's anything I can do.

I've just recently discovered the bonus pack audio playlist...
Would you be willing to tell me how you went about creating the tabbed sub pages that exist for any urls that are children of http://drupal.pepperalleyproductions.com/alpha1/user/1/media/....?
It's almost like you have 3 levels of menus (the main nav.. a separate sub nav tab and then sub nav childrend for the tabs)?
PART 1
1) Are they panels?
2) Are they views?
3) Are the Both (embedded views in panels)?
4) Possibly a lot of this is hard coded into page template
5) All of teh above.
I'm just scratching my head a little about this.. :-)

1) Are the child tabs audio, playlist, video and images views?
2) what view will automatically put the flash image viewer in the html output?
PART 3
1) At this link http://drupal.pepperalleyproductions.com/alpha1/multimedia you've got a right sidebar block called 'listening station'. How did you shrink the xspf player so that it only displays the tracks and not the big block off to the left that i think normally is supposed hold an album image?

I'm happily surprised to come across some comments to this rather old post. I've been currently spending a lot of time over at Drupal Dojo and we're gearing up for project oriented learning experiences. As this particular site is one what we hope to 'properly build' from start to finish, there should be a ton of great learning material. As things begin to move forward we'll try to connect back the the relevant groups. And if you haven't checked out the Dojo, there's a lot of Drupal fun and learning going on! Just make sure to take your shoes off.

I've already been following dojo.. would you mind taking a stab at any of the questions i posted. they were fairly specific and the likliehood of all of them being answered in the dojo in the near term is probably unlikely unless the project site is going to be your pepperalley site (i couldn't tell if that's what you meant by your post).
until then a little response goes a long way :-) if you choose not to well i guess that's ok too..
also, i figured out that to post to the "groups" i need to append @drupal.org to my login id. that's cool. however, my group posts do NOT get automatically tracked in my tracker.. i have to manually bookmark my group posts and then periodically manually monitor them. do you know an easy way to track group posts? maybe i'm just missing a setting or something..

but still can not get this to work on my site.
Would you mind explaining what you did exactly to get this to work?
I've followed the instructions from the Views module page and do not understand if I need to do something else. I created a block just to be able to view the player, but still no music files load.
I also checked the node you mentioned in this thread and it is not very clear to me as to what I need to do.
Any help you can provide would be great!

I ran into the same problem...
you need to download a PRIOR version of the jeroen player to make this work like in the thread. that thread is fairly old and views bonus audio playlist (from what i can tell) was written to format the embedding of the earlier player (i think version 23???). So just download that sucker, unzip and delete the latest player 3.5 and you'll be up and running.
There is an effort to move
There is an effort to move the Views bonus pack audio code directly into the audio.module. This will allow the module to get some more attention/love/development.
