Verve Internet Solutions (www.verveinternet.com) is a full-service Internet communications firm with a 13-year track record serving the needs of nonprofit organizations and educational institutions. The firm is based in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia, PA.
Verve’s mission is to leverage the power of online tools to help our clients meet their missions more effectively. Verve has recently begun utilizing Drupal CMS and CiviCRM to create customized database-driven websites and online solutions.

The Lead Web Developer will be integral to shaping and implementing this strategy by providing technical oversight, mentoring team members, and providing hands-on development services.

The opening is for immediate hire – we offer full-time employment. Full-time salary is based on experience. Work schedule is 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday on-site at our offices in Philadelphia, PA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide technical oversight and hands-on development contributions to the design, development, and implementation of Web-based applications and products.
• Assist in planning of resource/time allocations for current and projected development needs.
• Ensure technical consistency of architecture and framework implementation for LAMP/Drupal development activity.
• Estimate the technical costs of projects, confers with clients to identify requirements, and determines their desired outcomes
  in order to formulate the design of the system and/or offer alternative solutions in a timely manner.
• Provide project management for technical aspects of implemented projects which includes:

- keeping in line with established budgets and timeframes
- providing technical guidance to staff during implementation

• Mentor development staff members on business knowledge, system peculiarities, and complex technical issues.
• Develop and execute the agreed to priorities and goals for the team.
• Work effectively from pre-determined priorities and goals, with minimal day-to-day supervision, to consistently meet established deadlines.
• Work with senior staff to develop and implement strategies for generating resources and/or revenues for the organization.
• Maintain currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
• Attend client meetings with other staff to act as back-up regarding technical questions.
• Oversee the work of the development team and sub-contractors.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements:

• BA/BS with 5 years experience in a team based software development environment.
• Experience using version control software in a team development environment.
• Expert-level experience with Drupal, including: Drupal 6 and Multi-Site setup.
• Proficient in HTML, advanced CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, Apache, Linux.
• Working knowledge of best practices and industry-accepted web standards.
• Familiarity with cross platform and cross-browser (IE, Firefox, Windows, Macintosh, etc.) compatibility issues; basic web server
  administration ; user interface design principles; usability and accessibility issues.
• Good verbal and written communications skills.
• High attention to detail, and ability to work well independently with direction from others.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly is a must.
