Americans for the Arts Web and Technology Services team is on the cusp of reinventing all of its organizations online services. We envision the redesign of our entire website offerings that will utilize Web 2.0 concepts and innovative technologies as well as full integration of a new organizational database (AMS) and an overhaul of our e-commerce solutions. Our goal is to bring arts professionals and supporters together through innovative services, shared resources and inspiration, and strategies to improve their own lives and work through the arts. We are looking for a Web Developer/Programmer to take a leadership role in this exciting new venture.
What You’ll Do
• Maintain organization’s online services which include seven (7) websites, a collection of social networking sites, e-commerce services and web components integrated with the organization’s database (currently in selection phase of database development)
• Development of new websites and website redesigns that utilize innovative and open source technologies (esp. Drupal)
• Codes HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, XML, and ASP.NET to build online resources and integrate various tool for single login
• Manage integration of web tools with organizational database by utilizing your knowledge of API’s, web services, and ASP.NET
• Experience with SQL and/or MySQL a plus
• Lead development of innovative web-based applications that will serve and enhance Americans for the Arts programs
• Advise staff on available on-line resources which could be developed to best meet needs or enhance their programs
• Interface with vendors to address and troubleshoot support issues with online technologies
Your Leadership Skills
• Support the mission and vision of Americans for the Arts by championing and inspiring the use of new and innovative technologies
• Teach and guide staff about the possibilities online technologies hold for enhancement of their work and reach to constituents
Skills You’ll Have
• 2–3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field required
• Demonstrable experience managing organizational websites and online communications with:
o Blogs, wikis, and other web 2.0 technologies
o Website CMS (currently use Omniture Publish, and Drupal)
• Knowledge of the online community and current web trends
• Must have demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities
• Advanced HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, ASP, PHP, experience required
• Familiarity with SQL, MySQL, ASP.NET, XHTML, and Visual Basic
• Experience with Association Management Systems (AMS) such as iMIS or relational databases a plus
• Understanding of the principles of good website design and basic usability concepts
• Good oral and written communication skills required
• Ability to work cooperatively, creatively, and flexibly
• Entrepreneurial attitude, self-motivated, multi-tasking and committed to meeting deadlines
• A commitment to advancing the arts in America and a passion for cause based work

• Demonstrable experience with AV encoding software and codecs
