Overview

Major
record label seeks web contractor to assist with various projects.


Work
with a groundbreaking team on a mix of highly visible properties at the intersection
of music and web technology with Drupal at the helm.


Job Responsibilities

  • Develop sites against internal guidelines and best practices.
  • Debug faulty code and buggy sites where needed.
  • Develop PHP/MySQL web forms and Drupal modules to aggregate and analyze data
    from various sources
  • Optimize SQL queries where needed
  • Interface with internal and external resources on site integrations and custom
    development
  • Apply code patches and document changes.
  • Develop tools for a variety of purposes including: build management,
    deployment, batch changes, interfaces, debugging, etc.
  • Deploy updated files to appropriate servers (web and content delivery networks)
  • Create and modify rewrite rules for splash pages and/or redirects.
  • Create development environments for new and existing sites, including SVN and
    FTP user accounts.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree

Required Professional Experience and
Competencies

  • PHP, MySQL, HTML and CSS development (2+years)
  • Good understanding of CS topics including data structures and algorithmic optimizations.
  • Knowledge of Drupal and/or willingness to learn
  • Familiarity with a Unix/Linux environment including Subversion, basic command
    line tasks and vi (or alternative)
  • Ability to multi-task on multiple time-sensitive projects.
  • Strong communication and follow-through skills.

Ideal Experience and Competencies

  • Self-motivated and passionate about music and technology.
  • Knowledge of basic web services and transport mechanisms including XML-RPC.
  • Ability to create and update mod_rewrite directives in .htaccess files.
  • Understanding of regular expressions.
  • Experience with Basecamp and/or Backpack.
  • Experience with any 3rd-party API system (e.g. Google Maps, Flickr, etc.).
  • Experience with any of the following: Bash shell scripting, Python, Memcached,
    CVS, ActionScript 3.0, Akamai CDN, Amazon S3, Google Analytics, Omniture
    Analytics, OpenID, Facebook Platform, Facebook Connect, any open source
    project.
