Drupal Austria Website Working Ground

wolfflow: http://drupal.adaccs.at/node/184 "I find that the Logo should look something that underline the Austrian Activity in the Drupal scene"

LG :-)

fosstux: http://drupal-austria.at/files/bluebreeze_logo.png

Umsetzung

Danke.

LG
Christopher

Semantic Drupal FP7: Code sprint series

Last week at Drupalcon in Boston I realised that it's just not possible to apply for a development FP7 (the 7th Framework Program of the European Union) for Drupal. Things are going so fast that any plan would be obsolete before the project could get granted. That's why I think it would be the most interesting to do a proposal for a series of expert meetings throughout Europe that brings together people to discuss their implementation of the semantic web in Drupal, every time followed by a code sprint.

The core developers involved in Semantic Drupal development that are located outside of Europe could be invited as speakers (e.g. only European companies normally qualify for funding), the actual participants could be companies or universities in Europe that organise the meetings.

Who would be interesting in taking part in such a project and organise one of the meetings. Is there anybody who has the capacity to lead the consortium?

splash message

Hello to all,

As a newb to this group the first thing I want to do is posting a question:
Is there some possibility to display a splash message?

To be more concrete: F.e. Max is a user on a platform now fow a while, then the general terms and conditions change (like on studivz now f.e.) and the next time when he log's into the start side of the platform a message is displayed in front of him to accept the terms and conditions. After accepting, the normal start site of the platform is displayed.

Another usecase is a welcome message: Everytime a user goes to the startscreen a welcome message with content like "how cool is the platform" and "how to use these cool features" is displayed. The user can either click ok and the normal start site is displayed, or click: never show this again, and it will never show up any more.

Is there something to do that in drupal? Some module or configuration?

Thanks a lot in advance!
Cheers,
Jörg

PS.: It would be really fancy, if the module even can check if javascript is enabled, and if yes, if also loads the original start site, and displayes the message in an overlay window like lightbox is doing so.

I started developing buddylist2 a while ago, and now I need some feedback and/or serious issues to finish it. After a stable version i will port it to drupal6.

I have written a little documentation to get started. (suggestions for improvement is welcome)

Working group drupal for PhD researchers

I have started www.thenextlayer.org a drupal based platform for collaborative research. read the about page to get a full overview what this site is about, but basically I want to create a system to be used by people who do research, either in an open and free context or as a PhD in areas with overlaps between digital culture, media art, FLOSS, etc. I have followed a bit the group drupal for education but I found it too top down educational.

thenextlayer.org is more about open collaboration between peers. the requirements are quite high as digital practicioners want to work with image, audio, video, yet at the same time text should be dealt with properly standing up to any academic demand.

I am looking for people who would be interested in joining the developmental effort behind this project, particular people from either Vienna and / or London (I happen to live in both places) so that we can have face to face meetings.

In particular I would like to organise a one day workshop in Vienna within the next weeks. If you are interested to join please post here or email me.

Workflow-ng 1.0 released!

Finally the first stable release of workflow-ng is out!

The module is already stable for a long time and all important features are implemented, so I decided it's time to release. So I'm happy to have a stable 1.0 release out of the door close before the drupalcon in barcelona. If you are going to barcelona, don't miss the session about workflow-ng.

1. Drupal Group Austria Meetup

Ort: Unser Vorschlag wäre mal das Metalab. Vorteile: freies WLAN, Beamer, Leinwand, authentische Atmosphäre, Wutzltisch. Nachteile: Zugang nicht barrierefrei.

Lage: http://metalab.at/wiki/Lage

Taxonomy Manager – Final report and first release

Today, the SoC program official ends. I'm glad that I was able to make the first release of my project today. Last week has been an intensive week of testing (thanks to all my tester) and the weekend has even been more intensive with bug fixing and today I finally had time to write some documentation. So I think, most things are done.

Overall, I'm satisfied with my results. When I read my initial proposal or when I see my first UI design again, I can say, the results are very close to what I've planed. All features I have proposed are implemented in some way or even more.

To sum up, the most important features available in the Taxonomy Manager:

dynamic tree view

mass deleting

mass adding of new terms

moving of terms in hierarchies

merging of terms

fast weight changing with up and down arrows (and AJAX saving)

AJAX powered term data editing form

search interface

Of course, there are many more details I could talk about, but, if you want to know more about it, you can read through the readme file for more information. Or simple try out my demo site or, even better, download and install it from the project page :)

Thanks to all my mentors (Nicholas Thompson, Konstantin Käfer, Ruben Canlas Jr.) and many more people from the drupal community for testing, answering my questions, providing me with ideas and many more things :)

After SoC ends, this project will be maintained, ported and further developed.

buddylist 2.x development

I'm glad to announce development of a buddylist 2.x module. Our team needs buddylist's functionality for a project, but decided that buddylist's (1.x) quality is too bad for use in our project and that the effort to fix it wouldn't be worth the trouble. So we'll build buddylist 2.x..

Buddylist 2.x design decisions:

use views (for now with usernode..) for all buddy listing, so they are
extensible and customizable

use workflow-ng for all notifications, which provides e-mail notifications - or whatever you want (just write the appropriate action..)

to simplify only the buddylist modus with "Confirmed buddies" will be
supported - no one-way buddy connections

only implement the basics in the module, other things should be built as add-ons.
So there will be no buddy-group functionality, or tracker integration (for
this views can be used nevertheless).

we have also planned to develop an extension, which shows the shortest
buddy connection to other people later

Probably there will be no need for changing the db-scheme. So
upgrading would be just a matter of replacing the module.

So in short the pros/cons of this design will be:
+ small, stable, performant module
+ good code reusing
- a lot of dependencies (views, usernode, worfklow-ng for notifications)

development will be done by nodestroy

Social Networking Sites

FrOSCon schedule and registration online

You can now view the schedule for FrOSCon online. The Drupal track is divided into German language presentations on the first day and English language presentations on the second day. The Drupal coder's room will be available for Barcamp style impromtu presentations for both days. You can also pre-register online which makes you eligible to win prizes in the raffle. Pre-registration isn't mandatory to attend the conference, but is recommended.

One little publicized fact about FrOSCon is that there is plenty of space to stay overnight in the school where it takes place if you bring your sleeping bag!

Workflow-ng 5.x-1.0 beta1 released!

I'm happy to announce the 1.0 beta1 release of workflow-ng.

Workflow-ng allows one to customize drupal's built in workflows in a very flexible way.
In short, it's a rule-based event driven action evaluation system. Read the introduction to see how it works.

It is useful for

sending customized mails notifying your users about important changes

building flexible content publishing workflows

creating custom redirections

and a lot more....

It builds on the powerful workflow-ng API, which allows contributed modules not only to expose configuration defaults, but also to add additional events, conditions and actions.
Users can share their configurations by using the built-in import/export tool. This enables users to easily share their configurations.
I've already wrote some documentation including two tutorials, but the developer documentation is still TODO. It'll be completed during the next days...

Watch out for updates or other related news on my blog: http://more.zites.net/workflow-ng

Deadline for FrOSCon talks approaching: June 30

You still have four days (until the end of June 30) to propose a talk for FrOSCon. Please feel free to be creative; these need not be dry academic lectures, but can be workshops, demonstrations of modules or sites, lightning talks, round-table discussions and so forth. See the FrOSCon group for more details and a list of proposals that have been submitted so far.

Workflow-ng API ready...

After some hard work, the workflow-ng API is ready.

It features

actions, which may be configurable

conditions, which may also be configurable

support for multiple arguments, for actions as well as for conditions

condition evaluation with logical operations like OR, AND and NOR

events, for which conditions and actions can be configured. They may be contributed by modules.

dynamic loading of needed arguments

ordered conditions and actions - they are evaluated like they are ordered

form API style configuration and processing of conditions and actions

So workflow-ng works event based. (And no, I'm not talking of calendars ;)
E.g. workflow-ng defines some basic events for drupal core, like 'node update, 'node insert', 'user update' and so on. So this are the events you can react on by defining conditions and actions for them.
What makes workflow-ng powerful is, is it's flexible handling of arguments. Each of these events has to define a list of available arguments. Then any conditions and actions, that can work with these arguments, can be configured for this event. So an action can be used in any situation, where the suitable arguments are available. There is no need for the action, to be coded aware of every event.. :)

As modules may define further events, this enables module authors, to easily allow site administrators to customize the behavior by just defining some further events.

Drupal companies: Sponsor FrOSCon 2007

Attention Drupal companies - FrOSCon 2007 is seeking sponsors. EUR300 is enough to become a bronze sponsor and have your company logo next to MySQL's. FrOSCon is dedicating a large lecture hall with a projector, a smaller "hackers" room, wifi, air conditioning, food for the presenters, and swag, all so that we can have a dedicated Drupal track. Becoming at least a bronze sponsor is a great way to show our appreciation to them for this effort, and to help make FrOSCon 2007 a defining moment for the German Drupal community.

FrOSCon Germany 2007

The FrOSCon conference is a fun conference that takes place at a technical college in Sankt Augustin, Germany (near Cologne and Bonn). The conference is well attended by many open source groups such as Debian, Zope, PHP, KDE, X Org and NetBSD.

This year there will be a dedicated Drupal track with 12 formal talks/presentations and a hacker's room dedicated to Drupal hacking. This will be the largest Drupal oriented conference ever to take place in Germany.

German and English speaking presentations are welcome, and you can sign up and propose a talk on the froscon.org site. Make sure and indicate that it is for the Drupal track.

Node Profile 5.x 1.1 released!

I'm happy to announce nodeprofile 5.x 1.1!

Thanks to the great subform element API module, which I wrote originally for pageroute, it was quite easy to implement some great new features for the node profile module, which make building simple node profiles a lot easier. So node profile 1.1 features

configurable user edit categories integration - edit a simple nodeprofile like a core profile

configurable node profile display integration on the user's (my account) page or - if used - also on the usernode

configurable user registration integration

easy integration of a nodeprofile in any theme

You can find the settings to this new features in the also new per content type node profile settings - just edit your node profile content type and click on the new "Node Profile" tab.

Read more about the new features on http://more.zites.net/nodeprofile_1-1

RCS abstraction for the Project module: preliminary final version

I just uploaded my application to Google's Summer of Code web app, and I can say I'm quite proud of its current state. The application has seen a couple of iterations based on valuable feedback by Adam Light and Derek Wright, both of which are working on RCS stuff for the Project module. Being fed into Google, this means that the Drupal mentors can now place private comments and supporting votes there.

Given that there are a good number of comments on some of the other proposals in this group, I'm still wondering if there is something I can do to spread the word and get more input from the greater public. After all, work on the Project module severely affects the great majority of drupal.org users, and getting rid of CVS as a hard dependency should really be discussed in the wider community. So do communicate your opinions about my application, its benefits for Drupal, its chances to get elected, its shortcomings, challenges, etc. ...I'm listening.

Ecommerce-Implementierung mit Autocharging - Zahlungsanbieter ? mpay, worldpay, heidelpay, etc.etc.

Hallo Leute!

I'm happy to announce that I start working on the next generation workflow module, called workflow-ng.
It's inspired by the existing workflow module, but if things go well it's going to be a lot more powerful.

I can use the development as practical work for my study and I will also write my bachelor thesis about this - thanks to the Information & Software Engineering Group of the TU vienna. Furthermore it's great that this all is sponsored by the Austrian company Pro.Karriere!

So, what's workflow-ng?

Workflow-ng ist the next generation module package for building workflows with Drupal. It allows building configurable state machines, which can be supplied programmatically or through the admin interface. So workflow-ng will be a tool for module developers as well as for site admins.
Workflow-ng doesn't work only for content nodes, it will be coded on top of a “drupal entity” - so it will start with support for nodes, comments and users. Furthermore it doesn't urge you to introduce new states for your entities, because it does interpret each saved entity as a new possible state. This allows one to reuse existing information, e.g. reuse the existing „published“ and „moderated“ fields of nodes.
Also workflow-ng won't allow one building state-machines only. One will also be able to react on various “events” with configurable actions, which allows site-admins or modules to adapt any default behaviour. E.g. this suits very well for e-mail notifications. Send a thank you message to the author of a certain node type? Just configure the action and workflow-ng will do it for you.

Read more about it in the concept I wrote: link

Drupal Einführung bei servus.at
