We need someone or a company to fulfil an "IT/web Manager" function and provide full support to an organisation which has no in-house IT/web professionals, and the majority of members have low IT literacy. Site is www.ksfiomdepositors.org. Environment is Drupal 6 on LAMP. Need is for community site, publicity site, and behind the scenes IT requirements.

Factors:

  • By the very nature of the project, we do not know for how long this need might exist, but it's unlikely to be less than a few months and could extend to a couple of years or more in the worst case.
  • Professional grade services required - this is not a "hobby" !
  • Location not too important, but London or Surrey would be ideal, and GMT or close timezone preferred.
  • Probably around 15 hours per week on average (very difficult to know what the ongoing workload will be.) Some need for evening and weekend availability.

The role includes:

  • Managing LAMP environment - Ubuntu, Apache, MySQL, Postfix, etc. under a hosted Xen VPS. Maintaining security, installing upgrades etc
  • Managing Drupal environment, installing upgrades and occasional new modules to cater for changing needs.
  • Maintaining a suitable implementation of Drupal roles and access privileges which may need to change from time to time.
  • Maintaining domain and sub-domain DNS needs and email routing. Managing mail forwarding between @our-domain addresses to others. Possibly implementing gmail for the whole domain in the future.
  • Some Drupal CCK and Views work, possibly occasional module customisation, or even bespoke module development.
  • Developing an maintaining security and data privacy policies
  • Developing and maintaining backup and recovery systems and procedures.
  • Reporting on IT issues to other team members.
  • Analysing ongoing needs and providing suitable solutions.
  • User support primarily by email (non IT literate users.)
  • and more!
