Why this Position? This job offers a chance to change public health by incorporating genomics and bioinformatics into bio-surveillance and other public health domains. Success in these projects may impact the detection, surveillance, and treatment of dangerous and frequent outbreaks of foodborne diseases such as Salmonella, pathogenic E.coli, and other pathogens.
In a year, this person will become a valued part of the bioinformatics core and have become expert in working with public health scientists to develop secure, compliant but intuitive web interfaces.
Daily Responsibilities SRA is seeking a Software Engineer with experience in some or all of the following programming languages: JAVA, PHP, Drupal (or other Content Management Systems) to conduct web application design, development and implementation for bioinformatics to support the CDC. In this role you will work with a variety of tools and programming languages such as: PHP, JAVA, Drupal (or other Content Management Systems), and other open source web development tools like Ruby, utilizing Tomcat and Apache; ASP.net, Javascript, CSS, HTML, etc. You will be working with the team and end user public health scientists to develop secure, compliant, and intuitive interfaces for complex scientific data.
You will play a key role to updating a legacy platform to more modern Web standards, and making it user-friendly to scientists. Position is for full time employment with SRA and will be based from our SRA Atlanta, GA office.
