Drupal Themer/ Front-end Developer | The Georgia Straight

The Georgia Straight, is seeking an experienced and innovative Drupal Themer/ Front-end Developer to join our Web Department for a 6 month contract position. The successful applicant will become part of an elite team tasked with helping re-theming our existing web properties (primarily Drupal 6) under Drupal 7 as well as reviewing and revising administrative and front-end interfaces for optimal user experience. The successful candidate will need to have extensive professional experience working with the Drupal presentation layer as well as the latest related user interface techniques and technologies – all tightly integrated with the core content management system. Experience building Drupal themes from scratch is required, as is fluency with CSS, Javascript, and jQuery. Working with the web team, and using a variety of programming languages and software, this person will ensure that projects are approached with creativity and professionalism and completed according to established timelines.

Key Activities And Duties:

-Plan, implement, and test custom Drupal 7 theme based on static design comps
-Review, develop, and optimize front and back-end admin interfaces
-Maintain and optimize stylesheets and client side Javascript
-Integrates online applications with external APIs and systems

Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

-Expert knowledge of Drupal front-end systems
-Expert knowledge of CSS, Javascript, jQuery
-Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and pick up new technologies quickly
-Self-motivated, analytical, and very detail-oriented
-Professional experience with Drupal 6 & 7 is essential
