Drupal Camp Chicago 2008
Who/Why:
For over 2 years Chicago Drupal has truly highlighted the benefits of an open source initiative. We have built resourceful bridges between many local Chicago establishments including non-profits, entrepreneurs, Drupal development companies, independent consultants, hobbyist, and others in the mid-west. Our goal for this Drupal Camp is to bring everyone together for open communication, education, fun, and industry networking.
What:
Free Drupal Theme Workshop
This event has now passed. Thanks for all who attended!
Come join us for a totally free Drupal 6 theming workshop. This casual training will walk through building a Drupal 6 theme from scratch, start to finish.
Your group leader will be building a basic theme for a company website based off a Photoshop mockup. He will build the theme and talk about what he's doing and why he's doing it. You can ask basic questions along the way but, due to the compressed timeline of the workshop, we won't stop the workflow to answer anything extremely complex (or go off in directions that don't pertain to the theme being built).
- Where?
St. Matthew Lutheran Church
2040 South Commerce
Walled Lake, MI
Room 304 (use rear entrance)
Google Map - Date: Saturday, October 11, 2008
- Time: 1pm-6pm
We aren't providing any food/snacks, etc so bring your own. We will have wireless assuming everything goes as planned. However, we cannot promise that the wireless will be functioning.
Hope to see you there!
Local User Groups unite to give back support!!

Confirming meeting today!
Hey guys,
Just your friendly reminder that we've got a meeting tonight at SPARK Central at 7pm. Drupal wasn't able to get the pivots patch put in to place (darn!). Instead, I can discuss Organic Groups--what it is, how you can use it, any questions you might have and I'l try my best to answer them. Secondarily, we can discuss how we all sell Drupal in our own orgs or whatever else you'd like to chat about!
October Detroit Drupal Group Meeting
Second group meeting for the Detroit Drupal User Group
We will again be meeting in the conference room on the second floor of the Rochester Hills Public Library on October 6th from 6PM to 9PM. The Rochester Hills Public Library is located at 500 Olde Town, Rochester MI, 48307. Just east of Rochester Rd. Just north of University.
Drupal for firebug
I found this interesting and figured I would pass it along to the groups:

August Group Meeting - Access Control in Drupal
It's that time again... Time for another group meeting! This month's topic by popular demand will be "Access Control in Drupal" by Cathy Behrendt.
We may be able to cover another topic as well--We don't know right now if it'll be ready in time, but I should get notice on Friday or Saturday if it will be. I'll update this event either way.
So the agenda:
1) Access Control in Drupal
2) ???
3) General Q/A

University of Michigan Library Chooses Drupal
The University of Michigan Library just decided to use Drupal as their new content management system. You can find a list CMS that they evaluated and the criteria that they used at http://mblog.lib.umich.edu/blt/archives/2008/07/drupal_mlibrary.html.
Pivots Module
I found this and thought it was interesting to hear. Last summer there was a DUG meeting and the pivots module was presented then(http://groups.drupal.org/node/5070). It is about a year later and is in full production live on the drupal.org website (http://mrzhou.cms.si.umich.edu/drupal-users-welcome-pivots-recommendatio...).
I e-mailed Daniel and asked if he would come present the module again at the group. Maybe everyone else should give him a nudge and let him know we may be interested in hearing about it again (daniel lives in the A2 area).
Request for Help on Vietnam-era Resource Site
Hi everyone... I got a request to post this information from a new user whose having a problem actually joining the site (we'll straighten that out at the next meeting). I'm posting this for Ken Wachsberger. All questions should go to Ken at Ken.Wachsberger at cengage.com.
a2Drupal Monthly Meeting - Wiki Tools
It's that time again! On the 28th, we will be meeting at Spark Central to cover at least one topic, if not two. This month, we will be going over Wikitools: http://drupal.org/project/wikitools
Next meeting topics
Last meeting there was some discussion about various topics that could be discussed at our next get-together on the 28th of July. I'd like to bring that discussion up again here. What do people want to hear about? Where is the interest? Throw out the ideas, advanced or simple. We want them all!
Drupal Developer | Switchback (bump)
For some reason, groups.drupal.org didn't send out the contact email to lots of people regarding Switchback's recent call for talent. If you didn't already see it, please see our original post here:
http://groups.drupal.org/node/13052
Thanks!
Drupal Developer | Switchback
http://switchbackcms.com
Switchback, sponsor for the a2Drupal User's Group, is looking for drupal developers. We have a number of projects where additional help (you) would be beneficial. All jobs would be contract only, though depending on work and fit in our organization, it could be contract to hire for the right person.
Ubercamp 1.0
Announcing the most fun you haven't had yet this summer! The event is still in the planning stages, but we're keen on setting up an Ubercamp for the weekend of July 25-27. We know it's short notice - only 2.2 weeks away - but we're going to do our best to make it happen, make it fun, and make it fruitful.
Good Luck to Mike Hofmockel!
If you weren't at the a2Drupal meeting on Monday, you missed the announcement. Mike Hofmockel and family will be moving about 500 miles away to Ames, Iowa shortly as his wife had been offered and has accepted a faculty position at Iowa State University.
Congratulations John! Lullabot wins again!
John VanDyk has done so much for Drupal and the community already. I'm so excited now that he will be focused on Drupal full time!
Congratulations John! And Congratulations Lullabot!
