The current way to translate Drupal itself using the l10n_server is hard. We want to change this
and help people to get Drupal and core modules 100% translated. Therefore we need your support.
What is wrong
The current translation on l10n.drupal.org is kind of confusing, because you can't see the "translation-status". Instead of translation the current version of a module you have to translate all versions at the moment. Yes people translate old versions of modules, because they can't know which strings they have to translate to get the current stable release translated. This wastes a LOT of time and demotivates the translators.
How should it look like
Every module on drupal.org has a "recommended-version" flag. This setting is per major-release, so you have one stable recommended version per 6.x/7.x/8.x. This information is now automatically used for the localize server to give you a better overview of work to be done.
Therefore this new overview only shows the translation-status of those current recommended releases and helps the translater to focus his time were its really needed. Optionally, you can still view and translate any release available, if you wish - but this should no longer be the default dashboard view for the translators and their probably daily work.

There is already a concept how to do it. The concrete implementation will be done by erdfisch for a price of 800 Euro. Though we search for more sponsors to support this work and would like to hear from you. Every cent will be directly used for contributions, even the work would be done earlier.
