April Drupal Pittsburgh Meet-up
Good news! Got word from the Brillobox that they would be open to having us use the upstairs space, which I think would be a great space... dorkbot does their meetings there and has a good vibe (plus a projector)
...but, unfortunately it is already booked on the dates we were looking at for this meeting, so...
Tentative Location
Joshua said he could get Spinning Plate Gallery (5720 Friendship Ave.), so for this month I'm thinking that's the way to go
Tentative Eats
Spak Brothers makes a mean pizza (both vegan and non), so I might pick up a few on the way---bring a handful of ones and chip in by the slice
Tentative Agenda
Since the loose format worked really well last time, I'm just going to put a couple of things down here
- Quick go round and update on current cool things and frustrating things you're doing in Drupal (if we can get a projector, may be able to demo?)
- Drupal 7 Usability Testing and the upcoming dates for us to get involved
- Netroots Nation and possibility of Drupal presence
- Figure out the best day of the month for everyone to meet
- Perhaps even beers next door at the Sharp Edge after

Being based on blogging, I suspect Wordpress would be there - might we want to consider a Drupal Presence? If so, how can we make this work to all our mutual benefit?

Podcamp Pittsburgh
I agree about netrootsnation.org. We should also have a presence at Podcamp Pittsburgh October 9 - 11th. At that time, we should be able to do a demo on how easy Drupal 7 is to install and work with! Code freeze is Sept 1; so, it should be pretty stable by October.
The way I have envisioned talking to bloggers, podcasters, and Wordpress users is NOT to convince them that Drupal is better for blogging but to focus on the features available once they want to go beyond blogging especially ecommerce, granular access control, paid subscriptions, etc.

I will be contacting Eric at the Brillobox again to see if there are any dates we can get the upstairs space there. I'll be asking him for sometime in the last two weeks of May.
