The Wixárika Research Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization headquartered in Oakland, California. It is dedicated to protecting the cultural survival of the Huichol (Wixárika) Indian people of Mexico. This indigenous civilization is threatened with extinction through the continuous efforts of the mining, water, and logging industries, as well as the Mexican government and the narcotraficantes to rob them of the soil, fauna, flora, crops, water, and air in their sacred sites and in their residential communities. The Wixárika Research Center is committed to supporting the global community of individuals working together toward the preservation of the Wixárika's physical and spiritual infrastructure, without which, the work of the WRC will not be able to proceed in any meaningful way.

To accomplish these objectives, the WRC develops, educates, and relies on a global community of supporters which it must expand in a cost-effective and goal-consistent fashion.

The website is located presently at http://wixarika.mediapark.net/en/index.html.. The WRC updates content through the Adobe Contribute system, but recognizes that this system lacks in power, flexibility, functionality, and ease-of-use. The executive staff and the board of directors would like to have the existing site converted to Drupal, and extended with the following considerations in top of mind.

The transformational goals are to:
Facilitate Content Management & Publishing, including discussions, forums, comments, likes, "+1"s and other forms of social interactivity.
Implement Member Registration and Subscriptions/Memberships
Support the design, implementation, and operation of campaigns and calls-to-action.
Streamline merchandising through e-commerce
Create a portal with the organization's Facebook page, "Huichol Cultural Survival" at https://www.facebook.com/groups/15698360044/

We would like to communicate with prospective developer candidates who would consult with The Wixárika Research Center in the theming, design, construction, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of its' website.

Kind regards,

Rich Reader, chief media officer, The Wixárika Research Center
