Volunteer(unpaid): Drupal performance tuner for Drupal testing framework | Drupal.org
The Drupal project now tests every core patch for Drupal 7. To date we have tested almost 7000 unique patches, 40000 times. We are getting ready to roll out the 3rd version of the patch and core testing system, http://testing.drupal.org. In order to ensure the testing system is running correctly we are looking for a volunteer who can tune each of the volunteered servers(4-20). You don't have to be an expert in Drupal performance, you just have to be willing to learn and have some basic competency in Linux System Administration.
Responsilities would include:We have a fair amount of debug statements that can be enabled which will be printed to the watchdog log. They should provide a fairly good feel for how long each part of the testing process takes. I can assist in addition logging where needed.
- Logging site creation and test time so we can benchmark the tests. We have a fair amount of debug statements that can be enabled which will be printed to the watchdog log. They should provide a fairly good feel for how long each part of the testing process takes. I can assist in addition logging where needed.
- Identifying optimal parameters for patch testing including: Apache, PHP, PHP OpCode Cache, File System, Database tuning, etc.
- Updating the install script to ensure the new optimized configuration isused, http://drupal.org/project/testing_server_setup
- Report back issues with the testing system performance to Jimmy Berry, the lead developer, http://drupal.org/project/project_issue_file_test
No core infrastructure team members please, we are looking for new contributors to help.
Cheers,
Kieran
