The Office of Research, has an outstanding opportunity for a CMS Developer.

The CMS Developer will directly and significantly impact UW researchers' ability to find, apply for, and effectively manage research programs, including federal grants made available by the ARRA. Implementation of a standard content management system will not only improve the online experience for UW researchers, but will also increase the reliability and accuracy of online content, and will provide a framework that could eventually provide support to other research administration offices not under the Vice Provost of Research

Responsibilities:
Web Application Development:
# Configures, updates, and maintains large scale and complex Content Management System including user management, taxonomy development, and workflow
# Develops, tests and implements Drupal modules and themes using Advanced PHP and standards-based web design principles (XHTML and CSS)
# Publishes data reports by connecting to a reporting engine, specifically MS Reporting Services and manages the display/update frequency
# Works with a variety of database systems including MS SQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL within a variety of database frameworks including JDBC
# Integrates CMS within the UW environment, ensuring effective integration with pubcookie, LDAP, ADS, and other technologies
# Ensures Drupal CMS works efficiently within the UW www server environment
# Integrates apps with third-party APIs, RSS/Atom feeds, web services, and heterogeneous document management systems
# Develops advanced front end user interface using jQuery, Javascript, AJAX
# Implements version control system that integrates well on the UW www server environment
# Works with Apache and Microsoft IIS (infrequently) web servers
# Manages multiple projects simultaneously as directed by management; meets set goals and deadlines

Technical Writing:
# Writes, edits, and revises internal documentation and external compliance information as needed
# Communicates technical information clearly to a non-technical audience

Solutions Analysis / Requirement Gathering:
# Analyzes current needs and maps functionality to corresponding Drupal modules
# Collaborates with multiple stakeholders to identify feasible and effective solutions
# Works with UW Technology to identify solutions that best integrate with server environment

Requirements:
# BS Computer Science, Information Management, or related field
# 3 years web development experience working with PHP, MySQL, XML, JSON
# 2 years of experience implementing and maintaining Open Source Content Management Systems such as Drupal or Plone
# Advanced knowledge of standards-based XHTML and CSS coding
# Demonstrated Technical Writing Skills
# Ability to communicate effectively both in written and verbal forms

Desired:
MS Computer Science or related field
2 years of experience developing and implementing Drupal modules and themes
1 year or more experience in higher education, research administration, or familiarity with the grant or contract life cycle
1 year or more experience working with Microsoft Reporting Services
1 year or more experience working with SVN or other version control systems
1 year or more experience working with LDAP, ADS, pubcookie, MS SQL
Knowledge of Accessible Design principles
Able to work well independently and on a team
Creative, energetic, self-starter
Can provide online samples of work

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
