To my dear New York City, Drupalistas and soon to be Druaplistas,

We are two weeks away from DrupalCamp NYC 2, 20 & 21 Jan. A few of us have been thinking what if we concentrated our efforts on a single project instead of working solely on individual projects? I'm not talking about a classroom setting, but a project (ie install profile, module stuff and theme) to educate each other?

Well here is your opportunity to change the future of one lucky group. Big or small, non-profit or community organization... If you know of a project that can use the assistance of a Drupal site, we need you to nominate them. The lucky organization will also get one year of CivicSpace on Demand (hosted and managed install of Drupal 4.7 and CiviCRM + EMAIL)!

How does this work?
If you have a session you want to covered, add it to the session page.

If you want a new website...

First - The site must need one or all of the following solutions.
* Raise money online
* Send blast email/e-newsletters
* Manage a community website
* Maintain an advanced supporter donor database

Second - The organization must send an outline of site features or a copy of an RFP and contact information to DrupalCamp's coordinators - email drupalcamp [at] noneck [dot] org .

Third - The organization must send a representative to DrupalCamp NYC 2 whom must be in attendance to answer any questions at the start of DrupalCamp on Saturday, 20 January.

Fourth - If you don't know of anyone; forward this to your friends....

I'D ALSO LIKE TO THANK OUR SPONSORS....
* Polytechnic University
* CivicSpace on Demand
* Manhattan Neighborhood Network
* Lullabot
* Chapter Three, LLC
* ......you?..... (we need a pledge of $300 to cover dinner on saturday & sunday - contact noel to be a sponsor. )

See you on at DrupalCamp NYC 2!!!

According to that date thing, 10 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday. Another question: where at Polytechnic is it? Apparently "Building A" .. will there be signs all over? And it seems a laptop with Drupal installed is required?

Local Insight

Yeah,

It took me a while to notice the time on the event in the drupal groups listing... As I don’t think it was anywhere on the barcamp.org site.

I too would be interested in getting some more detailed directions to the event...

I am also looking for a little local insight, as to the least expensive / easiest way to get from La Guardia to the venue...

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Darren

building A!

we had to iron out a few questions on the timing. we are now extending drupalcamp an hour! 10 - 7, we'll be coding like mad men and women!

also, dcNYC2 will be in building A... check out the locations page...

Depends

Are you going directly to the event from the airport? I'd want some downtime, personally.
Taxi is easiest, but expensive. You can take your chances with the MTA, for $2, or there's apparently a $1.50 Triboro coach bus that goes from all terminals except Marine Air and connects to the E,F,R,V, and 7 trains. Email me (craig[at]jewcy.com) if you know where you're going directly and I may be of more assistance.

this weekend is drupalcamp NYC 2!!!!

It's time to fire up those decentralized neurons! DrupalCamp NYC 2 is this weekend!

once again we are welcomed with open arms to polytechnic university in brooklyn. on saturday & sunday (20/21 jan) we will convene from 10 am - 7 pm to discuss, program and hammer on our favorite open source content management system.

please bring an open mind, a picture id (our host requires photo identification for weekend entry), a laptop with a fully charged battery, video dongles or vga converters, a power-strip, and some red bull (sugar and sugar-free). don't forget to make a list of your problems to solve, tips and techniques!

unlike last time, this year we will have a true camp atmosphere where YOU provide the sessions and content. we will also have one room dedicated to coding, one to new drupal users, and one for intermediaries who want to hold conversations, code or skill-share. do not fear, we will have ample space for many break-out sessions. the whole area is blanketed with wifi, and almost all rooms feature projectors.

we've received a few session proposals, and if you've been working on one, post it to the wiki. if you are new or just want to learn, don't worry about a formal session topic. if you have a topics or issues to discuss, please post them on the sessions page. we want to make sure that the drupal cabal is ready to handle all issues. by the way, we've also posted a sample schedule. while the exact timing of sessions may change - food and intro will not. please be on time.more information on sessions

don't forget on sunday, OpenPlanner.org will host a post-Camp Happy Hour at The Brazen Head, 228 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11201.

please keep in mind that registration will close Friday at 5 pm EDT. please make sure your name is on the wiki. if you have decided not to attend, please remove your name, as we are using the list to budget for food and supplies.
information on attending

polytechnic university is highly accessible via subway and bus. parking is available, but most lots close at 6 pm.
