Hello,
I work for the Society of Multivariate Experimental Psychologists as a web developer.
Some years ago (2009) we commissioned some modifications to AdvPoll and have been using it to nominate new members in our organization as well as voting on and awarding annual awards.
Now we'd like to port the modified poll to D7 and wonder if we can enlist the help of the Drupal community of developers rather than face the estimated $10,000 cost we have been quoted by the company, which shall remain nameless.
In exchange for help from the community we'd turn over the code modifications.
If this is something the maintainers of AdvPoll would be interested in, please let me know how to proceed.

Have you had a chance to look at the current D7 port of the module? I'm currently active on that project and would be interested to know what kinds of modifications would be required given the current state of the build.
Depending on the scope of the additional features, it may be possible to build them out as a new sub-module similar to how the ranking poll is now being handled.
Let me know what you think. Perhaps this is something I can help you get rolling.

Thanks for your comment. You bring up a good point, of course.
Perhaps I should try to install the current D7 version to see where we're at first.
I was also thinking of running the module against 'coder' to see if that gets us any closer.
One thing to keep in mind is
One thing to keep in mind is that the D7 build is structurally very different from D6. There is only one content type rather than two and the content type is a true CCK content type since CCK moved into the core.
Depending on the scope of your required modifications, Advanced Ranking Poll could be a good example of how to proceed.

I have posted the source code of our customized Advpoll 6.x version.
I would be interested to know what the community thinks of these customizations and whether there is any desire to incorporate these changes into the D7 version.
